We no get um no see ums.

Mosquitos can't handle the onshore winds and sand of Lake Michigan in our area.

No sharks either.

And the water gets really nice to swim in by July. The inland lakes are comfy just after Memorial day. Paradise for boating, fishing, and beach lovers.

Plus the foliage and temps are great.

Thanks for the book tip. I have scores of books on the War of Northern Aggression and will enjoy reading one so highly recommended. For sheer courage in the face of weapons that had far surpassed the tactics of the day, the soldiers on both sides were second to none.
