BB King was just asked about political comments during the war and he said "I think that there are going to be alot of things said tonight that I don't agree with."

Way to go B.B!

Anti-Bush Tony Bennett can leave his heart in San Francisco and throw it off the Golden Gate for the sharks. WHERE DID YOU HEAR THAT HE WAS ANTI-BUSH???

Sorry for the shouting, but (a.) I'm shocked, and (b.) I'm very, very disappointed. Tony Bennett's anti-Bush???

Me so sad now. Me go sit in corner and sob.

I knew someone'd get that picture. I doubt Norah was prepared to go up there five times. She also ran out of people to thank. She thanked the performers for doing a good job when she won album of the year.

Kept switching to the grammys from a movie I was watching so I wouldn't miss the Dixie Chicks and Springsteen. Two things I noticed. One black girl singing (children were brought on stage during the song dressed in occupational clothing) couldn't carry a tune; what an embarassement. Second, when the memorial was done near the end of the show for those in the industry who died (last year?), the only ones who got any recognition from the audience were the twenty something dead (I believe most died from illegal activity, not natural causes). Hardly anyone recognized any of the deceased who were over thirty. I guess that says something about the grammy audience.

I like the Yao commercials. Adding Yogi at the end really gets it for me! LOL!

*cues up "Twilight Zone" theme*

I'm currently watching HGTV and what came on while I was reading this???

Yup. That commercial.

I love that commercial too. Yao Ming is such a class act, and so I'm glad he's getting commercial deals like these. Plus, I've got a little soft spot in my heart for Yogi Berra. I wonder if he's as wonderful a grandpa as he appears to be.

I lived on the northside for a while (Perrin-Beitel). The Mr. was born and raised on the southside (Military Dr.)...his mother still lives there...

Agreed. The "Black" album was okay the first few times I listened to it, then went bad faster'n 2% milk.

Ah-ha! The mystery of the "man in the dress" is solved! (Sorry -- didn't keep up with the Grammys.)

It's HARVEY FIERSTEIN... er, or HARVEY FIRESTEIN... whichever spelling is correct.

Anyway, he cracks me up. He's such a great theatrical comedian. I'm glad he went as the mother character in "Hairspray". I remember fondly that movie, and thought Divine WAS divine as the mother of Ricki Lake's character.

John Waters is good when he isn't actively pushing to be a disgusting cow (c.f. "Pink Flamingos"), although my favorite "offbeat" director is Tim Burton. ("Edward Scissorhands" is so touching in its own little bizarre way.)

MoJo2001:

Am I to assume that Kajagoogoo was one of your favorite '80s musical artists?

If so, that's good! Two of my musical idols co-produced them -- well, when they had Limahl in their ranks, that is.

UmtheywereNickRhodesandColinThurston.

Shhhhh....

'Hairspray' and 'Crybaby' were actually decent movies.

chookter -- I'm SO happy you're a fellow Clash fan! The ONLY thing I bothered seeing on the Grammys was the tribute to Joe Strummer all of those musicians did by performing the Clash song "London Calling". I got SO choked up by that performance, and I got choked up beforehand when I remembered that Layne Staley (of Alice in Chains, one of my favorite hard rock groups) had passed away last year.

Erm, not as choked up as I was over Joe Strummer, however. I adore the Clash, even with the whole "Sandinista!" affair and everything. (Q Magazine named that one of the 100 dumbest things ever done in rock & roll, but I didn't mind it that much.)

"'Cause London is drowning and I, I live by the river!"

About Kylie:

Erm, I'm slightly embarrassed by this, but I do like one of her songs! It's "Come Into My World" and it has a cool video to boot, even though it's totally *gag* French. The concept's a gem, though. The song is what really gets me, though. I've played it nonstop for hours before.

*blushes a bright beet red*
