We have to start our live threads day in advance

We must come up with a 'statergy' for this. Perhaps we could start out with a the functional equivalent of 'pre game coverage' to be continued with a live thread. Maybe include an invitation for others to join us, etc.

The problem with starting threads hours before the event is that they attract all the morons who just post " I would never watch such junk" and mindless chatter. It then sets the tone for the whole thread to be chit chat instead of focusing on the show.

I am not saying that that is bad, but the way we always ran our live threads have been pretty much focused on the event. We also have the benefit of Hole_N-One's live photo grabs.

I thought that a half hour ahead was a polite and proper posting time for a live thread.

BTW, Lodwick, thank you for the compliment. I always try to have an informational flash.
