They're not talking about taking your finger prints.

Ballistic Fingerprinting s where they take a fired slug and a used casing from the weapon.

Which is stupid. First, try and get a criminal to bring in his weapon to do this. Second you can replace the fireing pin and barrel anytime, so much for ballistics.

You're not acquainted with irony are you?

My proposal is to fingerprint, and I mean real fingerprints from your fingers, to fingerprint everyone. Think of all the crime it would solve. If it saves just one life. It's for the children.

All the arguments used for ballistic fingerprinting can be used to justify real fingerprinting everybody as well. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. If you are opposed to going down to the police station and voluntarily giving up your fingerprints, then maybe you can understand why the NRA is opposed to ballistic fingerprinting.

Not when they come back for round 2 of the ballistic fingerprinting laws, to close that "loophole." (the public loves it when they close loopholes, especially loopholes with cutesy names like "the gun show loophole.")
