Please pardon the vanity, but I just heard the V.P. of Glock in Georgia say that he thought it was time for a national gun registry of ballistic fingerprints to be "given a try". Did anyone else here this?

Not thinking about it is far more scary. Truth is, some of them are perfectly willing to do just that.

"We need to get a confirm on this. If this is the case we need to make copies of the information and distribute them at all the local dealers and gun shows."
Getting cooperation among gun dealers and at shows might be a problem in itself. During the Krinton gun bans, shows where I live refused to make announcements to the crowd or promote information about the threat posed by the government. At one point, I tried to get major sporting goods dealers interested in the idea of putting something newsy into their catalogs detailing the political climate for gun owners - 90% gave me the shrug. Additionally, it would not suprise me if some dealers might see exclusive sales rights as a boon to their business and not a loss.
Anyway, here's a quote from the AGS link above:
"Two firearm manufacturers, Smith & Wesson and Glock, are currently installing a system to produce digital images of ballistic material for all handguns produced. Each company will maintain its own database that will be accessible to law enforcement."
Now granted that's from AGS and direct primary sources are needed, but if it were not true, then S&W and Glock might want to correct that mis-information, eh?

Actually in my area when Smith & Wesson tried to commit suicide and side with the Klintoon's the word spread like wildfire.
People were handing out news reports at show and shops. Many dealers I talked to were canceling their Smith & Wesson business. Several dealers had signs up saying that they did not do business with Smith & Wesson and were not shy of explaining why to someone who had a question.

I'm not saying 'grassroots' activists weren't getting out the word, I'm saying that the organizational structure around us dragged its feet. Heck yeah, I even bereated the S&W people at the NRA convention that year and gave Winchester Western heat for pulling their 'Black Talon' ammo because of political pressure. Like most things, it comes down to the individuals.

To be entirely fair, I have to modify what I just said...some of the organizational structure dragged its feet. Even so, I'll stand by the notion that some of it would just as soon kick us in the @ss as well.

I want a national fingerprint system... Why would you oppose it? Are you a criminal? It's for the children. Hey and while you're at it. Take DNA samples from everyone, at gunpoint if necessary maybe just get over it with with free housing and stuff (three hots and a cot, yeah, that's the ticket); after all - it's for the children. NOT!

You are probably right!!
I remember part 2 of Brady.
That did a lot to solve crime didn't it?

I guess the sidebar moderators now considered this to be news worthy and mere "chat". Discussion continuing
here.

Here's some more information on Andrew McKelvey, the billionaire founder of Monster.com and a commited anti-gunner. His brainchild, 'Americans for Gun Safety' puports to look like a middle of the road 'sensible' gun safety site, but just read what the ILA of the NRA has to say:

Do to them as we did to Smith & Wesson.
