After the freak o' natures I had to witness last night it took only a second to know I'm not going there. But I must bow down to your ability to find the strangest sites ever.
E and I aren't going to NZ today, are we E?
M - Your day makes mine look like I sat and ate bon-bons all day.
But FIL will get a big smile when he sees the Lasagna with garlic bread, Six baked chicken quarters (3 BBQ/3reg), big pot of BBQ Pulled Pork w/ his favorite buns, brown rice, home fries and a big pot of blackeyed peas. And for desert.... a sugar free choc cake.
So you see I've been taking it easy compared to your day. Relax already! :-) (plus I made hubby and PB&J w/bananas for dinner, the best part is that he really appreciates it. :-) )

Small world, I just finished making a pot of pulled pork and my onion buns are now baking in the oven with the carrot cake.
Now if it would only warm up so I can get my Christmas decorations off the house. They are clashing with my Valentine's day wreath and flag.

Today I was in Chicago - a friend is visiting from MPLS so we went to the Art Institute - it was wonderful to see works by Monet and Pissarro. I'm not much of a fan of the other European impressionists but I also got to see several of Childe Hassam's works - he's my very favorite American impressionist. Can you tell I'm an impressionist nut? Had a great time until the drive home:
Brian Dennehey was being interviewed on the big afternoon drive time radio show. He said he believes in the death penalty: "What's the difference, philosophically, from sending young men off to war and using the death penalty?" Can you believe that idiocy???
He's doing some play at the Shubert w/Marlo Thomas which tells the story of several people who were on death row and wrongly convicted. He's a buffoon -- I couldn't believe the wacko things coming out of his mouth. Another Hollyweird flake I won't be paying money to see.
He thinks we need to create some kind of "Ombudsman Group" who, after a trial and sentencing, takes the cases and pours over them to make sure that the person wasn't wrongly convic ted. He thinks the ombudsman people could come from retired cops and private investigators - He says they wouldn't have any political axe to grind and could be "fair" to the convicted felons. He feels that the "poor and the minorities" are so unfairly treated by our justice system - that they take the brunt of our justice system. He actually said that our system of justice is "not fair." Excuse me, we have the best system in the world - it isn't perfect - nothing of man ever is, but it is damn good. Who is this guy to worry about "fair?"
Mr. Dennehy strikes me as nothing more than another clueless Hollywood celebrity without two synapses to rub together. Oh, that, and he has a microphone to the world. Amazing what passes for inspired thought these days.
OK, rant off. Sorry guys. Back to New Zealand!
