At the request of members, I am restarting those "Tales from the Dark UnderBelly Of the Beast"-- the stories and issues that the press and media either ignore, won't even talk about, or will mention once and forevermore claim "it's old news..."
Naturally, some will be stories which interest me, or things I think we all need to be aware of.
I am experimenting with a minor change in presentation- when I can, I will cut to
-GoogleNewsBeta--
with a keyword or two and see what kind of links to "mainstream" stories I can find in contrast to what we see here and on other sites.
May I remind you of a couple of points to bear in mind?
Each link usually has many other links within- follow them all to get "the rest of the story."
Don't forget the "open multiple browsers" trick with control-n -- this allows you to hold your place with one, and use the others to follow links, run searches, etc.
Rather than go back and rehash old links, I'll give you links to the original posts here:
-DUBOB 10- the *best of* the Dark Underbelly Series--
-DUBOB 9-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast..... --
DUBOB 8-- still *more* tales from the Underbelly***
DUBOB 7-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB 6-- yet *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB 5-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB IV- yet more Tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast-
DUBOB III -- "Tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast"
DUBOB 2-- more tales from The Dark Underbelly of the Beast-- thread II
-The Dark Underbelly of the Beast- Stories the Media won't Discuss...--

See my tagline... until there is a market for men over 50 who still smoke, I'm going to be a househusband, and have time in between family crisises and laundry to cruise the boards and cull links.
BTW, I sent a note to Khashayar, which I hope will explain how to do what I do on this post.

Rich Elite Prosper Amid Zimbabwe's Crisis
yahoo.com news ^ | June 28, 2003 | Angus Shaw
How little we hear about racial crimes and the persecution of Rhodesias population particularly the white landowners, but as soon as the the tyrants start using their power to make profit...WHOA Nelly! Imagine if the roles were reversed?
The reformers had discovered predatory moralism. It gave us Prohibition and organized crime. The focus shifted from helping the downtrodden to browbeating everyone else
But, hey, don't worry, a few more tax increases will bring them back, right?
I agree with ALS that impeachment is politically impossible, but disagree that their breach of the constitution is insufficient to impeachment. If flagrant disregard of the constitution among justices doesn't rise to the level, nothing does.

This type of "step-by-step" banning is becoming "the weapon of choice" of the ninny-nannys out there. A similar smoking ban has just made it through Florida's zoo of a legislature (mostly on the influence of retired folk from up North), seat-belt laws which were never supposed to be a primary-stop offense are now enforced by roadblocks, of all things, and the issue of firearms rights should serve as an object lesson for the entire country.

Global Warming Top Issue for DemocratsDemocratic National Comittee Web Page ^ | June 20, 2003 | Democratic National ComitteeAre you going to let the Dems get away with perpetrating the global warming hoax? Many of you have presented on the FR forum easy to understand and rock solid evidence from independent scientific sources proving that “greenhouse gas” emissions are not a problem at all. For more scientific background on the subject, read Rush's book "See I Told You So", where he proves that "there is no reason to believe in global warming.”

One more California Hillary Freep to go--
Excellent report. You covered everything but Mediaqueen's sign "It takes an idiot to enable a predator" and another asking about Juanita, Kathleen, Elizabeth, etc. A reporter from the Santa Rosa Press Democrat was surprised that we were all local people. She said she hadn't found any local people waiting in the line to buy books. Some were from Sacramento and many were from the East Bay.
...Hillary was very surprised at the mixed reception, but her Secret Service detail smiled.

More evidence of the feminization of America. Can't do anything that might hurt or discomfit anyone.
In her new book "Treason," Ann Coulter demonstrates how liberals always scramble back to the Vietnam War for parallels, because it's the last war that turned out the way they wanted it to.
Put simply- PNAC is the mother of all conspiracy theories and the liberals have gone mad.
Colter doesn't just say it; she proves it with numerous examples and meticulous footnoted documentation. Unlike this author who doesn't document a single one of his examples of the US "systematically crushing its citizens' rights".
Steyn Alert- another "Red Meat" article that cuts to the quick:

Younger people do not realize the media was ever different than it was today and that societal norms have been turned inside out.My favorite old article:
None of this is new to anyone familiar with the culture wars. However, it does seem that Americans are increasingly unwilling to be bothered...
Every few days the Democrats come up with another new top issue. It must be depressing: they can either (1) face the fact that they have nothing to offer or (2) try to maintain some delusion that they do.

OUR OPINION: The 'quota' cry doesn't faze me [Cynthia Tucker]
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 6/29/03 | Cynthia Tucker
To this woman, life is about getting a "piece of the pie" by any means. People with pride and self-respect would want to compete and succeed through merit. I guess people like Tucker cynically look at life as completely rigged so an individual is fully justified in begging, borrowing or stealing whatever he or she needs without remorse.

Our government was founded as a decentralized representative republic whose power was limited to the protection of liberty and private property. The words "democracy" and "democratic" appear nowhere in the Constitution. A republic differs from a democracy like the rule of law differs from the rule of the masses.
The perfect symbol of democracy is the guillotine.

Wonder about Harley's biases?
a ``Total Recall'' effort against Gov. Gray Davis...
So how come these so-called leaders are so all-fired dumb?
Davis is in BIG trouble... the 'rat party is the party of problems. Gray davis will be the poster boy of the Democrat party. The party of deviants, the party of perverts,
the party of Davis...

Gay marriage is taking exactly the same "trek towards legitimization" that _abortion_ took before the Roe v. Wade decision. This is no mistake -- it is intentional and well-planned.
Big Tobacco should never have caved in to these bastards.
Mr Mugabe has been repeating ad nauseam his great lie - that it is all about white farmers and land. If only the greedy white farmers would hand over land stolen from black Zimbabweans during colonial times, all would be well.

It certainly makes sense to replace the Constitution with the opinions of brainwashed little girl.
Please pay attention to their aims--
I take offense that our Representatives leave their titles at the door when they attend these international meetings and then re-assume their roles to do what they can to implement a policy developed by a bunch of euro-enviro wankers--
I am taking it very seriously. Having lost the overwhelming support of the majority in America, leftists know that any legislative remedy for their causes is becoming increasingly impossible in the democratic process.
They have now changed to a two track strategy. The first is to control the Supreme Court and simply achieve through judgment what they can’t at the election booth.

I'm not usually the most passionate voice in the abortion debate, but this story clearly crosses the line into "abomination" country. What are these people thinking? What do you tell the new baby when she asks to meet her "birth mother"?

Recall or Revolution?Sac Bee ^ | 6/30 | WeintraubRunning away won't help. Eventually, the liberals get tired of the destruction they have sowed, and move on to better environs - where you moved to.
Excellent idea to start to recall the legislators. The demoncrats are scared silly that the Davis recall will spread to other useless riders on the government gravy train.
Time to Part Company
WorldNet Daily | 9/13/2000 | Dr. Walter E. Williams
...you know who put this in perspective for me?
Noam Chomsky, if you can believe it. He said the two political parties are in cahoots. He claims that they make noises and stuff but they actually enact each others' agendas. Who passed Welfare Reform? Who gives you the prescription benefit in Medicare?
The numbers in Holland are absolutely astounding now - including the fact that a good percentage of those killed were not in a state to agree - in other words were handled by family members. Pardon me, but isn't that what the Western world used to refer to as murder?
I have a copy of that film from the Ron Brown funeral that I saved at the time. One of the early copies posted to the internet had the file name autotear.gif, which I always thought was a good name for it.
The “Right of Return” for “Palestinians” is nothing more than an instrument of aggression being bandied about by the genocidal Jihadists and Islamofascists of the Arab world.
Usual Rat scare tactic. Create fear amongst the sheeple. Get them bleating. It's just about the money, your money.
The only negative thing I see in her informative, well-written, well-argued, and occasionaly (intentionally) funny indictment of traitors like Cohen is that the behavior she describes is enough to turn your stomach.

One brief news clip last nite said that GWB, at present, is polling 43% re-election, with the remainder split amoung all other contenders. At 43%, GWB is vunerable.
This can't be true. The opponents of a missle defense shield told us that no one was even close to building nuclear tipped missles capable of reaching the US homeland. This must be a lie.

Not that they consider killing babies to make babies wrong, just at odds with "prevailing social attitudes".
I can tell you from personal contacts that the ultra-left wingers in Kalifornistan KNOW that it is the Republicans that are blocking everything. And, if you mention the rcall, the party talking points strat with an immediate claim of the criminality of the two guys leading the campaign. Are these the same people who send the local school kids out into the community begging for money from tax payers? Who threaten to cut sports programs if the tax payers don't cough up more money for the school? What a bunch of pathetic losers.

S.F. gay pride parade mixes zaniness, seriousness, victoriesSF Chronicle ^ | Monday, June 30, 2003 | Reynolds HoldingWhat's sad is that the few gay people I know CRINGE at the stunts pulled during these parades. They say, and I agree, that the "in-your-face" flaunting that goes on during the Pride parades makes it harder for gays like them to just keep their heads down and be left to live in peace.
