Let's say I'm a 44-year old Iraqi man with a two-year old girl and a wife who worked in the Ministry of Justice and came home every day weeping because someone else had been taken away, I would hear this speech and be filled with piercing fear and incandescent hope and the two emotions would wrestle every day until it was over. When you think about it, a postwar Iraq might actually be safer from WMD than New York City. Itll be over for them.Weve no idea when itll be over for us.
You saw the evidence already.....remember the anthrax attack...... you think that came from a lone right wing scientist. That anthrax was so refined it could only have come from a very skilled lab.
Sorry to hear the speech didn't convince you....
BTW.....I posted an excerpt from the new Woodward book....it seems at the highest levels of our government they are convinced the anthrax came from AQ with the help from a rogue state. If you can get your hands on a copy you need to read that passage..
One of the things agreed to was that he would not only halt production of WMDs, but destroy any that he had. An inspection regime was put in place to verify that he was doing what he said he was doing.
As example, he and his government admitted to having certain quantities of Anthrax. His responsibility for that is to allow the inspectors access so that they can observe and certify that X amount of Y material was destroyed. Instead, these materials have disappeared with no explanation. It's up to Hussein to explain what happened to the materials, and cooperate so that the inspectors can certify - else there's no real justification, other than laziness on our and the U.N.'s part, for NOT invading and removing his government from power.
