Imagine Iraq as a giant aircraft carrier smack dap in the middle of Iran....Syria...Saudi Arabia. We would never need to worry about asking for basing rights...

And from what I understand, culturally Iraq is probably the most likely country in the region to handle a democratically-elected secular government.

Did you read that piece yet? I thought it was really good and very hopeful in terms of fighting AQ. If the president can make the case for that and then we can follow through, the political opposition will look like absolute dolts!
