BEIJING, January 28
Enlarge A new craze has hit restaurant tables in China -- meals cooked with human breast milk.
The dishes are being offered at a restaurant in Changsha, capital of southern Hunan province, with plans to expand to the boom town of Shenzhen across the border from Hong Kong, according to local newspapers.
The Beijing Times said the milk came from six peasant women who were still breast-feeding their children. No details were given on how much they were paid or how much milk was used.
The Life Times said two dishes were offered for the first time on January 25 -- an abalone dish and a perch dish -- with plans for more.
The restaurant owner, who was not named, invited local journalists to a tasting. While they went to the restaurant, they all refused to tuck in citing health concerns.
Another report said plans were afoot for a banquet featuring 108 dishes made with human milk. The Life Times said a Shenzhen banquet was also in the pipeline which would cost in the region of 280,000 yuan (33,000 US).
The owner of the Changsha restaurant said he had been planning the concept since October and that the milk used in the dishes was safe and hygienic.
"Our opinion is that we should respect natural things. We respect maternal love," he said.
"When the customers are having the human milk banquet they can experience maternal love at the same time."
It was nor clear whether using breast milk for cooking violated any laws.

China's "Dairyland"?

Haute Cuisine restaurants will follow the same methods as some Chinese restaurants that have live fish and crabs on their premises.

Maybe they can come up with a nice fetus-boiled-in-the-milk-of-its-own-mother dish.
Someday, we're going to have to use nuclear weapons on these sickos.

China's "Dairyland"? Think of all the possibilities for "unhappy cow" commercials.

"Our opinion is that we should respect natural things. We respect maternal love," he said." This is a country that respects maternal love no more than once per family. I guess there's a surplus of breast milk, then.

Maybe they can come up with a nice fetus-boiled-in-the-milk-of-its-own-mother dish. They may already have done it. See Weekly Standard article about Chinese "performance artist" who decided to film himself eating a fetus. When you think about it, poor rural Chinese don't get much protein, and the Chinese abortion clincs DO have a lot of output...
