The pace maker is it for me as well, stoke and heart attack. My biggest fear is that they have a recall on the one they put in me.

I enjoyed your Saradon rant.

From what I've seen from recent history, I believe there is a new phenomenon in American politics. It's called the Wellstone syndrome. The democRATs use the media for commercials, rallies, pre-SOTU rants, etc. to hurt President Bush's (nice to use upper case again) poll numbers, legislation, elections, popularity, etc., and the exact opposite reaction occurs with the American people.

It must be rough being a democRAT when you're playing checkers and the President is playing chess.

I heard that story. You didn't miss much. Cavuto just described Johnny as a child hood friend.

Tom Sullivan, subbing for Limbaugh, had another good analogy:

Does the cop watching the drunken driver weave dangerously down the road, wait for the drunk to actually hit someone??

At any rate, the truth is that after the Gulf War, Saddam was on a truce-dictated parole. He's violated that parole time and time again, and the violations must end. No more parole: The war, or forced disarmament, must resume.

Hi Mike, and g6! The snow has turned into very fine flakes the past few minutes.

lysie, about 4 years ago, I ordered a pair of very heavy-weight sweat pants from L.L. Bean, and the past winters, would occasionally wear them.

Not this year: they've saved my life! I wash them, and think, "okay, that's it. I can wear something else." No! They are so warm, I have to put them right on again!

from Monsoor Ijaz via LA Times:

Evidence to Justify War is plentiful

Ijaz was on Fox yesterday saying a lot of Saddam's chemical weapons have already been exported.

We are either showing how cold it is or we are showing our age. LOL.

I have started wearing grandmother-like sweaters. I try not to do that when Hubby is home. I have a pretty good reputation with him and I want to keep it. :-) I certainly don't want to send him to work with me looking like Ruth Buzzy's character minus the hairnet. LOL

BTW, your idea of coming up with a catchy phrase to describe the mouthy dem actors...I drew a blank.

Hi Molly.

After reading your post, I decided not to mention that it was 66 degrees here today.

Go ahead. Rub it in.:-)

Heard a little of Biden's (the Plagiarizer) remarks.....The Dems are playing a dangerous game...for them ....and for our county.

I hope they pay for it, like they did last November, while our country does NOT.

Evening all. Several folks at school were out with this bug I've had.

We've identified the responsible party (aka Typhoid Mary), and chastised her. If she ever does it again, we promised to taunt her a second time.

lysie, I like Neil's analogy in #179.

Molly, your #177 and other posts are why I enjoy ATRW so much - such excellent comments from fine Freeper minds. What you've said is so true.

Neets, your #140 - the opinions of that "expert" seem pretty worthless to me. You know, I really wouldn't be able to compare X42's speechifying with Pres. Bush's style because during the entire 8 nightmare years of his presidency, every time he came on the tube, I'd change the channel, pronto. Never could abide him, even during his first campaign.

bev, great post in #168! I'm so glad that you and Larry are doing so well. You'll be sure to let us know before you leave for Arizona, won't you? Am I correct in thinking that you don't have internet access during those months?

TxGrandMom, good of you to give us an update. I liked Dog's advice to contact Delay's office about this incident but I guess it's not feasible to do so under the constrictions your family member is facing.

Toby, my my, your s-i-l sure got that countertop finished fast. Must have been all the good supervising he received. Thanks for your reminder for us to pray for the President. I was happy to see that many Howlin's live thread are saying the same and posting short prayers (as well as a plentitude of LOL comments).
Live Thread SOTU Speech

Guen, kassie, All, thought you'd enjoy this peek at the guest list for tonight:

More reason to watch the speech on cable FOX news tonight, I just read on the live thread that they will NOT air Sarandon's commercial. Yippee and kudos for America's channel. However, be aware that local Fox stations may still do so.

A Citizen Reporter, love your suggestion on the other thread that they show "Enduring Freedom: The Opening Chapter" instead.

I'm looking forward to the President's SOTU speech. This will be the first SOTU that Trill and I have not been together to see. Not that she would watch more than 5 minutes of X-42, but we have watched all of President Bush's together.

I'm spending about an hour a night on the phone helping classmates out with this costing portion of the class. Chef is very smart, with a PHD, and a couple of master's degrees.

Chef doesn't teach well to people that have problems finding the decimal equivalent of a fraction.

I have thought of making a cheat sheet, and offering it to him for use as a hand-out. (After I get my grade)

E-Mail Message I received:

THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES!!!

I Am the Flag of the United States Of America

I am the flag of the United States of America.
My name is Old Glory.
I fly atop the world's tallest buildings.
I stand watch in America's halls of justice.
I fly majestically over institutions of learning.
I stand guard with power in the  world.
Look up and see me.

I stand for peace, honor, truth and  justice.
I stand for freedom.
I am confident.
I am arrogant.
I am  proud.

When I am flown with my fellow banners,
My head is a little  higher,
My colors a little truer.

I bow to no one!
I am recognized  all over the world.
I am worshipped - I am saluted.
I am loved - I am  revered.
I am respected - and I am feared.

I have fought in every battle
of every war
for more then 200 years.

I was flown at Valley Forge,
Gettysburg, Shiloh and Appomattox.
I was there at San Juan Hill,
the trenches of France,
in the Argonne Forest,
Anzio, Rome and the beaches of  Normandy.

Guam, Okinawa, Korea and
KheSan, Saigon, Vietnam know me.
I was  there.
I led my troops, I was dirty, battleworn and tired,
But my soldiers  cheered me and I was proud.

I have been burned, torn and trampled on the
streets of countries I have helped set free.
It does not hurt for I am  invincible.
I have been soiled upon, burned, torn and
trampled in the streets of my country.
And when it's done by those
Whom I've served in battle - it  hurts.
But I shall overcome - for I am strong.

I have slipped the  bonds of Earth
and stood watch over the uncharted
frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon.
I have borne silent witness to all of America's finest hours.

But my finest hours are yet to come.

When I am torn  into strips and used as bandages
for my wounded comrades on the  battlefield,
When I am flown at half-mast to honor my soldier,
Or when I  lie in the trembling arms of a grieving parent
at the grave of their fallen son or daughter,

I am proud.
