Like this one?LOL! It's not as bad as that one, but goofy, nonetheless, and certainly not something I'd want to see on Viggo's Aragorn!

Whoa! I was writing about this from memory and just went back to look at the book. It has a red cover and yes, the wings are enormous!! Thank goodness Jackson made a better looking version.

I thought the dude with the blue helmet and huge wings was Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth?
Since they're the "Swan Knights", I thouhgt that was an adequate representation of their helmets.

I thought the dude with the blue helmet and huge wings was Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth? I always assumed it was Aragorn, since he's "The King". Also, if you look in the background of that cover picture, you'll see Gandalf and Frodo.
When that photo first appeared of the Gondorian helmet with the HUGH wings, Clare read to me from the book about the ceremonial helmets worn by the Gondorian soldiers; described that picture to a 'T'!

Well, I kind of like them. I've been whining for more merchandise, though I don't think I'll be buying this set. Does Barbie have pointy ears?
Dear Peter:
I want a banner with the White Tree.
Some calligraphy toys not just for grownups, maybe some rubber stamps with elvish on them. I have a tengwar software font--could use one that's easier and less buggy
Sheet music with translated lyrics (I've located a bit on line thanks to a freeper)
Hobbit pipe
Floor plan of Rivendell, with your artists having fun. Floor plans of all important Middle-Earth edifices. Remember when they did all the books on the Titanic? That sort of thing.
...for starters...

No, this picture:

I'm pretty sure this is Imrahil. I could be wrong though...

Oh, dear! This helmet made me chuckle... Fashion victim, I fear.
To: ItsOurTimeNow
Maybe he is. I didn't think of that, but I don't think so the helmet looks too much like other gondor helmets.

I would love a floor plan of Rivendell. I have many files of pictures and I've been trying to figure it out.
It would be so cool if Barbie had pointy ears.
Aragorns pipe is available, and I think Bilbo's. You might try ebay or noble collection.

Among my large collection of Tolkien books (call me sucker, if it says Tolkien, I'll buy it!) is "Atlas of Middle Earth" which is very fun. I recommend it, if you do not have it. It has a sketchy plan of Rivendell's main house with the two great halls, bell tower, and Bilbo's south-facing bedroom. These were details mentioned by JRRT, but not much else, not even the materials of which it was made.
My lastest book, purchased a few days ago, is "JRRT, Artist and Illustrator." This is a delightful book of his sketches and drawings. He does an illustration of Gandalf riding down into Rivendell in "The Hobbit"--and Rivendell looks very different from the place he later illustrated for "ROTK". The valley is deep in the later books, but shallow in The Hobbit.
Books of floor plans have surprising appeal. They give a reader a nice imaginary tour.
The Atlas book also has an excellent guide to Minas Tirith.
To: Mamzelle
I have the atlas of middle earth. The Rivendell in the books was much different than the books.
I'm a total sucker too. I haven't gotmuch into action figures, except this little 3in legolas figure they had a Barnes and Noble. There is a new(?) book out this month with maps of ME by Lee and someother guy, (It looked neat, but being wrapped in plastic I can't really say)

I saw that book, wrapped in plastic. I'd love to see what's in it myself.
Last year I bought "Maps of Middle Earth" by Daniel Reeve--they are maps for the roleplaying game, of which I know nothing about. However, these maps are very fine. Large, several in good detail by the artist that worked the maps for the scenes in the movie (remember Gandalf rifling through documents at Minas Tirith?).
Beautiful, but they do have fold marks which would interfere with mounting and framing.
If you get this newer set, let me know what you think! If I break down and buy the "pig in a poke" I'll get back with you.
To: Mamzelle
I heard of a book of Tolkien poetry. I would love to have that one. I simply must! :)

You have a link? You mean to the chorals? I want to know what the words are to the piece that is being sung at the Gandalf/Balrog part where you are viewing them falling through from a far away spot in the cavern.
