AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 718) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | January 8, 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 01/08/2003 4:43:04 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our fredom, die in vain!!

There is a new tact from the anti-war crowd in the news this morning. They are calling for bringing back the draft. Reps Charlie Rangel of New York and John Conyers of Michigan have two complaints: (1) the fighting force of the Nation is composed of too high a level of minorities; and (2) they believe the US would deal with Iraq peacefully if politicians knew their children would be the one's in harms way.

The Supreme Court of California has ruled that it is rape even if sex is started with the consent of both adults, but the female changes her mind after the act has actually started.

Charles Pickering has been renominated by the Bush Administration for a Federal Appellate judgeship.

And there are two new ad spots that has been designed by Arianna Huffington of the Detroit Group which suggests that SUV owners are supporting terrorists. From the New York Times:

"This is George," a girl's voice says of an oblivious man at a gas station. "This is the gas that George bought for his S.U.V." The screen then shows a map of the Middle East. "These are the countries where the executives bought the oil that made the gas that George bought for his S.U.V." The picture switches to a scene of armed terrorists in a desert. "And these are the terrorists who get money from those countries every time George fills up his S.U.V."

A second commercial depicts a series of ordinary Americans saying things like: "I helped hijack an airplane"; "I gave money to a terrorist training camp in a foreign country"; "What if I need to go off-road?"

At the close, the screen is filled with the words: "What is your S.U.V. doing to our national security?"

YET (!!!!), these are the very same folks that do not want us to expand our domestic sources of oil by drilling in ANWR. They should sit down and shut up, because they are hypocrites - each and every one of them. Why? Because it matters not what vehicle you drive, a portion of the fuel can be argued to have come from Saudi Arabia - so they are just as guilty following their line of reasoning.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Rachel Ray is someone who I am beginning to respect. I hate her chipper attitude, but she is technically competent at reducing things to a minimum. And she is efficient in the way she prepares her meals. And she is correct about mise-en-place is very important.

She's a tad too chipper for me too but I like watching her work. She makes it look sooooo easy.

I actually made a recipe of hers once; a carrot salad.....shredded carrots, fresh lemon & orange juice, raisins, a bit of brown sugar........it was very tasty.

With the kids home there has been some interesting activity in the kitchen. Younger boychild adores mashed potatoes and will whip up a pot and consume them all by himself; girlchild has been experimenting with pasta.....last night it was sauteed zucchini slices with bowtie pasta and some kind of sauce. She is also the queen of tuna salad and makes it often, always using whatever is available as tossed in "extras."

As a chef,

Thank you, but I am still just a cook. I hope to be a chef someday.

Well, John, we know you're not really a chef yet, but we all have confidence in you! You will get there.

Dan Quayle on H & C pretty soon.

She's doing just fine; school starts next week; there are still a few petty details to be worked out, such as where she will be LIVING, and what time her CLASSES are, and little things like that............but I am washing my hands of figuring everything out for her.......if she can survive 4 months in France she can surely negotiate the terms of beginning spring semester.:) And yes, every day we hear new stories & such.:) She can't wait to go back; I'm hoping that will be a huge incentive toward getting herself graduated:)

Happy Birthday and many, many more in the many years to live.

I think Marianna is just a media teaser. She likes appearing, talking and acting cute on tv or any other media vehicle. She says we SUV owners help terroism, yet she allows herself transportation by auto and plane. WHERE in the world does HER petrol operating vehicles come from? Does she have an oil well somewhere in CA or DC with a private refining operation? Has anyone had the cajones to ask her or any of the others who don't want us to build new petroleum refineries, open new oil wells, how come it's ok to blame Americans for using petroleum from our "enemies", yet howl like coyotes whenever anyone brings up starting new wells etc? Even among our so-called conservative reporters, I find, a little bit of fear asking questions such as this. Who cares how big her house is..........did anyone check to see how much gas she uses to warm the pool, to fire up her fireplace, to cook meals, to drive or be driven in an automobile? Those are the questions to be asked.

That is a great essay you quoted from, and I was going to ping Mr. M to it.

I think another way of stating modern Liberalism's attraction to power and control is this:

If there are no objective standards, and most everything is subjective - a key component of Liberalism today - then power becomes the arbiter when conflicts occur, and they will because it's just human nature to disagree.

but I am washing my hands of figuring everything out for her.

Thataway, Mom!!!

Still remind myself every now and then, and it usually works, "William made it to India and back so why do I think he can't figure out how to do this, make this arrangement, buy that....."

'cause this is the kid who left half his clothes here, and I have to mail them back to him at school, FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!
