A belated Merry Christmas to all....Loved reading the thread and catching up...So much I learned here today...ha ha...Why am I not shocked that Barbra demands free movie passes and popcorn and colas to boot? And who is that Washington politico who was caught in the restroom? And I love those full length mink coats....for warmth, doncha know? lol....Did Chelsea get a ring for Christmas? And I thought Hillary Rodham Clinton had changed her name back to Hillary Clinton....Guess the pollsters told her to change it back to HRC. And my on my, the Kerry's are going to be fun, aren't they?
Actually, I really stopped by to see if Mr. Mountaineer was the W.V. powerball winner...guess not....

JUST IN CASE YOU WONDERED IF SOME OF THE MORONS IN EUROPE ARE TOTALLY NUTS - HERE'S MORE PROOF! AFTER THE MOTHER DOG DIED GIVING BIRTH - THIS WOMAN DECIDED THAT SHE WOULD "SHARE" WITH THE 8 PUPPIES. WE UNDERSTAND SHE IS NOW LOOKING FOR A LARGE GREAT DANE AS A COMPANION.

Hi, ds, nice to see you. No, alas, the mountaineers are not the lottery-winning couple. We're still as poor as ever!
Good question re Chels and the ring. Will Ian make an honest woman of her? What am I saying, she's a Clinton, a word that cannot be used in the same sentence as "honest."

Prayers up for stepdad.
A very belated Christmas to everyone, our family was struck with a flu epidemic that began last Friday night. We were fortunate that it subsided Christmas day, but now DH has it. I am hoping none of his cheer gets spread around again, 5 sick kids + 1 mom = exhaustion.
Aggie Mama, don't take any cr*p from your son's teacher. Ritalin is bad news, my best friend put her son on it and he developed epileptic seizures shortly afterward. Where did she obtain her license to practice medicine?
Granted, teachers who have been teaching for awhile can spot an unsettled child, but him merely not getting his work done is NO reason to suggest he be drugged. There are so many other things she can do to help him stay on task. Does she give him alot of papers to do?
If she does, I'm not sure she's the kind of kindergarten teacher I would want for him. He would probably rather be doing lots of hands-on activities. If you can, offer to go in and observe the class on several occasions; or drop in unannounced. That way you'll have a clear picture of what's going on. About them not informing you about the Fifth's epidemic, inexcusable. I would give them an earful if I were pregnant.
That photo of Lurch and the ketchup lady really reveals the depth of their marriage, I'm surprised he's not carrying her handbag.
HLL, Mariah was just trying to get into the holiday spirit by wearing something that made her look like a ho,ho,ho! The woman is mentally unwell, mistaking your belt for a skirt or dress has to be one of the signs.
Glad to see the Clintons continue to be their usual, vile selves.

Thanks pubmom. We've pretty much decided on a course of action for DS. His doctor laughed when I told her about the teacher "diagnosing" him with ADD, and she said that if I needed any help in fighting the school, that she would be more than happy to get involved. I talked to a couple of my friends who used to teach, and they said that DS's teacher leaves a lot to be desired. She has them writing into a journal every morning which is copied from an overhead projector. These kids are in kindergarten! What ever happened to perfecting letter formation first, then moving on to the bigger stuff?
With regards to the Fifth's, I'm so pissed right now, I'm glad school is out or I think they would have a raving pregnant woman on their hands.
I received the results of all my labwork a little while ago. Although I am testing positive for immunity to Fifth's, am also testing positive for a recent infection. So, I have to go back next monday and get another round of the same tests done to see which way my numbers move. The nurse said that they will work under the assumption that I have Fifth's without the immunity, so I have to get more frequent ultrasounds to check and make sure that the baby is not anemic. The worst case scenario is that the baby needs to have a intrauterine blood transfusion. Very scary thought, but the nurse reassured me that only a tiny percentage require this.
I'm so sorry about the flu. My BIL told me that it is moving south from North Texas into Houston and that it should be here sometime next week. I think I am going to start wearing surgical gloves whenever I go outside of the house. =)

Washingtonian magazine examines the potential first ladies, should a Dem be elected in 2004. Here's an excerpt:
Because future first ladies are likely to be judged on whether theyre more in the Hillary or the Laura mode, spouses like Teresa Heinz will face lots of scrutiny. A Washington Post profile of Senator John Kerry featured such devastating quotes from Heinz (she uses the name of her late husband, John Heinz, the ketchup heir and former senator from Pennsylvania) that she later hired a media veteran, Chris Black, to do some coaching. Political insiders now are talking about Kerrys Teresa problem.
In fairness, Heinz is known for her sharp mind and a civic-minded career in her own right. But shes prone to unpredictable moments and has caused a stir with her insistence on still calling Heinz my husbandin Kerrys presence. Political reporters hope that she will be every bit as spicy at Kerrys official announcement for president as she was when he launched his 1996 reelection campaign. And if there is anything that I can do as a woman and as his wife to make his life richer, after 12 years of celibacy, I promise you I will, she said.
.... Elizabeth Edwards: Edwards is shaping up to be a hybrid of the past two first ladies, blending the Southern charm of Laura with the moxie of Hillary (shes whispered to be the smarter one in the marriage to Senator John Edwards) [That's not saying much]. Shes also shaping up to be unpredictable in interviews, such as the time she stuck a cell phone into her bra in front of a reporter for Good Housekeeping. Her chief issue would likely be taking the Learning Lab national. Thats her effort to bring computers to North Carolina in honor of the couples late son Wade. ...

Journal? Overhead projector? How long has this woman had her license to teach? Rotten teacher you have there, AM.
I'll continue to keep you and the baby in my prayers.

What "lot of people" don't wear underwear? Sheesh! Just put on a pair of pantyhose, for goodness sake.
To: Endeavor
First of all, what is Mariah doing in the dead of winter with bare cheeks?
I don't know people who don't wear underwear and I don't want to know people who don't wear underwear. Heck, I don't even want to know people who wear thongs.
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs; Endeavor; All
I honestly don't know whether or not I know people who do not wear underwear. It's not a topic that comes up in casual or business conversation in the circles I travel in.
I don't know how drunk I would have to get before I would be willing to ask this question at a reception or cocktail party.
Let me put it this way: I don't know anyone who CLAIMS to go without underwear,,, but then again, I don't know anyone who CLAIMS to wear it, either. It's really an unknown thing. I'm just assuming everyone does.
For the record: I DO. Not Thongs.
To: Iowa Granny
Who in their right mind in Iowa, in winter, would not wear underwear - all kinds of it?!
There sure are a lot of Hollywood types that have absolutely no sense - and no self respect. Where are the Myrna Loy's, the Maureen O'Hara's, the Carole Lombard's, the Gene Kelly's, the Clark Gable's? While many on this list lived outrageously from time to time, at least they did it personally and not publicly.

Who goes out on a publicity gig in a skirt so short she can't even sit down, let alone sans undies?
To: mountaineer
Someone desperate for attention, and few bananas short of a fruit basket.

It isn't a question that presents itself in polite company, to be sure. I don't think I'd have the nerve to make inquiries about such matters even after excessive adult beverage consumption.
