The inside scoop on the Affleck J-Ho troubles is that Matt Damon has been warning Ben about J-ho's character. He's been telling Ben that he has only known her since March, and that she is still married. Damon really thinks that Affleck needs to sit down and think about this decision or else he will be husband number three on her way to number 4.
Ho wants Ben to end all ties with Matt, professionally and personally.
Looks like trouble in tiny town.

And the rumours have always held it that Ben and Matt are very close, some say too close..

I'm sure we all just can't wait:
BILL Maher's new HBO show starts Feb. 21. So far no name for the program. Set is that it's a weekly, Friday nights, and it's one hour. Cindy Adams

Ugh, Bill Maher is a disgrace.
I think Ann Coulter goes on his show because he is the last available single man on TV in her age-appropriate group. LOL!

Dick Armey, as he packs up his Capitol Hill office, muses on his experiences in Congress:
"I believe Bill Clinton to be the most successful adolescent I have ever known.... [He] was basically like a prep guy saying, 'Where's the next party? I love this job. Look at the parties. What a great limo. Ain't the plane nice?' ... I did not find the president entertaining ... I have one source of pride: I never fell for the act." Mr. Armey once phoned President Clinton's chief of staff and instructed him to keep White House photographers away during White House events where he was present, so that the president would not be able to use a Clinton-Armey photo to show that he really got along with conservatives.

Are you serious about the airlines banning food? Sheesh, I always take water and some fruit along, since all they feed you is peanuts and soda. I flew home from Boston to SLC on my last business trip, no stops, and they gave us a bag of a snack mixture (crackers, nuts, etc) and soda. Twice. I was busy and didn't buy any lunch for that trip home, and was starving by the time I walked in my house. Stupid move by the airlines.

I can't imagine it either. I don't drink caffiene, sugar or alcohol, so I am limited with refreshments on the plane. I also bring along a snack because I have never considered peanuts to be a meal.

I don't drink soda either. I usually opt for a fruit juice or tomato juice (the bloody Mary mix is really good too.) I'll never forget flying to NYC a couple of years ago, they fed us dinner on PAPER plates. So tacky.

Heads up!! Hillary is on GOOD DAY LIVE. She is involved in a home for foster girls. Today is Foster Kid Day or something like that.
Her hair is flat to her head and I swear she talks like a man.
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs
Actually, she talks like this, "I think, you know, um, that, um, it's very, um, you know, important, um, for children, you know ..." etc., etc.
To: mountaineer
You've got her down, pretty good. I'll bet you could go on the road with that imitation!
The spinners are in a frenzy on FNC.
The exchange between Alan Colmes and Shep was a classic! Shep says: Show me the documentation. Colmes wimped.

I loved the Dick Armey story you posted about how he wouldn't let himself be photographed with Clinton. Good stuff.
It drives me crazy to hear Hillary speak. You hit her speaking pattern spot on, mountaineer. And the cliches she and her husband spout. Meaningless drivel that sounds good for the few seconds in the speech.

No doubt Bill Maher is a creep.
Careful about knocking Miss Ann, though. She's thought of rather fondly in these quarters. Bill was lucky to have her frequent his old show.

Are we going to do a recipe thread for Christmas/New Year's this year? My neighbor just brought over the best treat for me. Rod pretzels, with a thin rope of caramel wrapped around the top in a spiral, dipped in white chocolate, and drizzled with mint red chocolate. Oh yum. I hid the rest, I'll take them with me to my parents house for Christmas.

Could you please describe the pretzel rods again. I'm trying to figure out if the carmel spiral is on the outside or underneath the chocolate bark.
I saw pretzel rods dipped in white almond bark, then sprinkled with colored sugars in an upscale gift shop. I even went so far as to put together the materials to hang a mini clothesline from the handles of my cupboards so I could dip, sprinkle, clip to the clothesline (using old fashioned pinchy clothespins). I've got the pretzel rods and the almond bark,,, just looking for the time to do it.
How do you think they did the carmel spiral?
wondering if you just could melt the Kraft ones?
To: Iowa Granny
I called her to get the lowdown on the pretzel rods. She used Nestle's caramel (I can find it at a local candy store here.) It comes in 1 pound squares. She just sliced off a 1/4 inch slice, then cut the slice every 1/4". She rolled the caramel into a rope about 4 inches long, pinched the top of the caramel at the top of the pretzel rod, and spiraled the rope of caramel down the rod, pinching the end. Then she dipped that in white chocolate, melted some red chocolate mint bark that she had, and drizzled it over the top.
I went to the candy store and bought some of the caramel this evening. On the back of the package, it says you can melt the caramel, and dip the pretzel rod into that. But the spiraled caramel looks way cool. I'm going to make them for some gifts. I think you could use the Kraft's caramels, but you want them softer. Try using the Hershey's old fashioned caramels, they're softer. Of course, a true homemake would make the caramels. Not me, I want to make these the fast way. :)
