Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Heh...I'm not a big mayo fan myself. I prefer mustard, specifically spicy brown. I can't handle too much spice either or it comes back to haunt me later. *shudder*

Steve made a hot sauce out of the fresh things from our garden a few days back. It's good on almost everything... but not blueberry muffins...

I'm getting really excited because the two little chile pepper plants I bought at the farmer's market a few months ago have LOTS of peppers on them now. They're still small and green, but coming along nicely! I'm sure I can find many uses for them...

...sorry I'm late. We've had a steady downpour here since about 8:00 p.m. last night. I'm getting our house reappraised since we now have riverfront property. Radio disk-jockette said "50% chance of showers today." LOOK OUT YER WINDOW DARLIN'!

Had do to some checkbook gymnastics this morning. Always fun when a hefty check you wrote 6 weeks ago (and thought had cleared) decides to clear right before vacation. As it was tho, it was mostly an inconvenience. Had it hit next week whilst we were gone, it could've been a real problem.

Some potentially good news in the extended Stormhands family. An answer to prayer. Wife's sister is expecting their third child (that's not the answer to prayer, that's the answer to miscounting during the time of my f-i-l's illness and funeral...but I digress). My brother-in-law is what I describe as an inbred University of Richmond West End type. Meaning everything is UR, MUST live in Richmond's "fashionable" West End, etc. (i.e. "retentive") Everything is status symbol for him. So, even tho this is their third kid he has continued to insist that my s-i-l work. Their two oldest boys are in "the" school (daycare) to be in, etc.

But, the school has raised their rates drastically, so now, if she continues to work, she loses money (her salary wouldn't cover three kids in this school). The answer to prayer is that b-i-l appears to be okay with her staying home.

So, we're pretty pleased with that.

all the photos I took are still on my husband's computer. He keeps saying he will email them to me soon. I'm still waiting patiently. I am kinda dissappointed in my pics though. I had originally planned to do the trip to Big Bend National Park, where the geology is fitting for the subject and there are fun daytrips into Mexico on burros and stuff. Wasn't able to make that trip though. So I opted for a closer and easier trip into Mexico. And then we got rained.

I think I got enough to put together a little something, and it will be ok, but not what I originally planned. oh well

As soon as he mails them to me I'll send some to you.

Ack! Have donned the headphones and rowdy music. Office roomie is having a, er, discussion with his wife on the phone. I feel very awkward. Might have to go for a walk.

I like things hot and spicy. I keep a bowl of freshly chopped jalapeno handy and I use it on almost everything. I use them in my cooking like bell pepper.

If I don't have that I use the Tabasco. Good stuff, yumm.
