The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!
Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

So, what are ya saying? Do you need an extra surrogate Granny? I'm starting to think that I won't ever get an opportunity to enjoy any grandkids. At this rate, with Myranda in Germany the closest of my kid/grandkid faction is the granddaughter that lives in Oregon. Do I need to grand-adopt Becky to get her out of your hair for a weekend?
Not to worry, I spoil with a great deal of discipline! I just love 'em to pieces if I have to beat 'em! :-)

Good night!

Nite nite... :-)

LOL When the freightcars are NOT on rails they tend to stay still ya know. I have to agree with you on the boat notion though. Had several friends living on the water when I lived down around Austin. Lots of houseboats on Lake Austin and Lake Travis back in the 70's. I used to kind of like to hang out on there when I could.

Yah. I actually considered that. The only big hangup was getting moorage anywhere close to Bvue. Everything is really stacked up. Waiting lists for everything. It must be this "crummy" economy that is making yacht moorage so hard to find, right...??? :-)
To: RMDupree
Good night Ruthy. Wish I could take Becky for a weekend for you. You, Becky and I could all have a little treat then. Too bad we're so far. :-(

Jimmy and I were brothers.
We went down different paths.
Jimmy always listened to my mother,
And me, I never like to take a bath.
As we grew and tumbled through adulthood
The pressure caused emotional drain.
So now I'm slowly dying in the bottle
and Jimmy has to live with half a brain.
Yes, me, I've got a bottle in front of me,
And Jimmy has a frontal lobotomy.
Just different ways to kill the pain the same.
But I'd rather have a bottle in front of me,
Than have to have a frontal lobotomy.
I might be drunk, but at least I'm not insane.
Jimmy let his troubles drive him crazy.
He never tried to drown it in a drink.
I know that drinking makes my thinking hazy,
But at least I still have brains enough to think.
Jimmy's got a brain that isn't stable.
He doesn't have the sense to say his name.
I'm sorry that his doctor was unable
To remove the proper portion of his brain.
Funny how the world works.
People can be real jerks.
Some prefer the tension over booze.
Either way it ends the same.
Hard to beat the living game.
Might as well enjoy it while you lose.
When I need a drink I start to shiver
And Jimmy always viewed it with concern.
But I'd rather have cirrhosis of the liver
Than an intellect that's second to a fern.
I wonder if old Jimmy's gonna hear it
When I tell him that his logic wasn't sound.
They'll dose him up on lots of evil spirits
When they take him to the psychiatric grounds.
Yes, me, I've got a bottle in front of me,
And Jimmy has a frontal lobotomy.
Just different ways to kill the pain the same.
But I'd rather have a bottle in front of me,
Than have to have a frontal lobotomy.
I might be drunk, but at least I'm not insane.

hehehe... yeah. Sorta along the same lines as:
If the economy is so bad, how come I *still* can't find a place to park at the stinkin' mall????
To: Ramius; Wneighbor
Believe me, the economy in Austin is bad.
Especially in hi-tech.
To: Wneighbor
WN: keep your hand on the throttle and your eye upon the rail. Words to live by. Thanks.
On that note: good night.
To: Sam Cree
Goodness, who wrote that?
That's not the Steve Fromholtz song, is it?
To: Sam Cree
Roger that.
I'd rather have free bottle in front'a me than a pre-frontal lobotomy! [hic]
Hey barkeep!! over here!!
To: Alkhin
When does "Master and Commander" come out? I like Billy's blonde 'do' in that picture!
To: Corin Stormhands

Randy Hanzlick, M.D., from Atlanta, who writes songs as a hobby. I haven't heard a recording, but I'd like to.

Yeah, the guy that I went to the drive-in with last night was laid off from Applied Materials over a year ago. Lots of people even from the Temple/Waco area were working down there...... till recently.

It was a figure of speech. I avoid malls like the plague. Haven't been near one since Christmas shopping last year.
