The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

BTW, on the few threads that I HAVE looked at, I've enjoyed your posts. The voice of reason. ;-)
To: RosieCotton
Well, I have been on a lot of the threads. Just got tired of seeing good people insulted by people at home while *they* were out there in harm's way, and serving honorably according to their ability. I think women should be allowed to do the things they are strong enough to do, no more, no less. I have a soft spot for lady pilots in particular, because if I had done what I wanted, I would have been one. I don't know if folk here agree or disagree, but that is my plank.

What's going to be in the next box(es)? I've lost track!
To: 2Jedismom; g'nad
I can send you some money to throw in a carton of cigarettes if you want! They would be appreciated over there according to g'nad's ping.
And they aren't very heavy....

Good morning! We have snow cover again...hopefully it'll get warm again in the next few days...Hi Rosie! We've had two snowfalls in the last week. Both were light, and both gone the following day! I like Spring snowfalls; they don't hang around. It has been chilly though; below freezing the last three nights.
We did get to that 'eat while you watch the movie' place last Friday to see TTT. It was neat being able to eat real food instead of junk! Next time, we'll just get the 'junk'; freedom fries and onion rings, and we'll sit in the more comfy chairs that have low tables attached to them. This time, we sat in rows and there were long shelves attached to the row in front for folks to put food on while they ate.
It is an older theater, but the sound was great. It wasn't too loud like some of the newer theaters have been.

At least they get to rest in peace at home instead of in some shallow sandy grave. I have to believe the parents can find some comfort in that.It will make their comrades in arms feel better too. They don't want to leave ANYONE behind!

Oh Ruthy!! I'll keep your Mom and the baby in my prayers!

Snacks! I'm thinking Slim Jims, Twinkies, Moonpies, Country-time Lemonade and such mixes, hard candies, granola bars, rice cripy treats, breakfast bars, bubble gum.
I'm not thinking things like food and such, because these guys aren't like the guys in Iraq, where all they have is MREs. These guys have a mess and everything. Nice tables with condiments, from the pictures I've seen. I'm mainly thinking snacks they can stuff in their pockets and take with them.
It may be a while though...funding is going to be slim after the books get mailed...

Her family is going to come out and talk. They are camped at her house..I saw an interview with her family on PMSNBC way early this morning. Her daddy is convinced that she has been hiding and trying to elude capture since the ambush. I'm sure he doesn't even want to THINK that she was captured and of what might have happened to her at the hands of those animals.
I believe she was being held by the Iraqis; she was in a hospital, but those have long since been made headquarters for the Iraqi army!
Frankly I don't care about the details of what she's been through, I'm just thrilled that she's being treated well now, and will be coming home! I hate hearing about the graves they found. I hope it is not all the others who are missing!
I have not been able to get to sleep before 2 am for the last 2 weeks. I am just a war news junkie, and all the interesting news comes through live in the middle of the night here!

I can send you some money to throw in a carton of cigarettes if you want! You sure you won't need a home equity loan for that? LOL! I hear smokes are pretty expensive these days.
To: 2Jedismom
The money will magically appear again for the next set! I have faith in that!

LOL!!
I was a little apprehensive when I was spending the donations before, thinking "Maybe you should hold back a little...save for the next shipment." Then I thought "Oh HECK!! Seize the DAY!"
I feel like this last batch was our finest moment, though...a fabulous batch of gifts!

Snacks! Oooh, this will be a fun one, no? How about some stuff like M&Ms or some of the little candy coated chocolate easter eggs (Hershey makes some, I know)...chocolate, but hopefully less melty than candy bars? And drink mixes for sure. That's a good one.
