It's time for me to go home. My CD playere here at work sometimes doesn't work properly. I was trying to listen to a CD just now, but it wasn't working (sometimes it will spin on a track, but nothing will happen). So I was turning it off and on, banging on it, taking the disc out, putting it in.

I had forgotten I had turned the sound all the way down earlier and it was playing just fine that you very much.

OT, did you sneak some Bailey's in my drink?

Ar you having trouble even getting to the site now? I am... They may be overloaded. Right click this link ( The Hobbit Teaser Trailer - by Steve Latham ) and 'save target as' to download it to your desktop, rather than trying to live-stream it from the site. That might help.

Will Oscar soldier on if war comes?
3/05/03, 10:52 am EST - Xoanon

The Oscars will probably go on. That's as specific as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences can be, as war with Iraq seems unavoidable. With talk centering on a mid-March attack, the timing couldn't be worse for the planned March 23 Oscar telecast. But even if troops invade, the ABC show -- second only to the Super Bowl in annual viewership -- is unlikely to be delayed, academy officials say. [More]

Anybody else listening to Rush? He's on a tirade about the stupidity of the anti-war crowd. "Who are these stupid people and why do I have to listen to them..."

Live thread on Powell speech is also interesting. Sounds like he's finally given up on the dipomatic approach as well...

It was called Reign of Fire. I never did make it to the theater for that one. I caught it on PPV a few weeks ago. I liked it.

Yeah, I liked it too. Saw it at a not-great time, but it was cool escape. Scary dragons!

I was watching the Powell speech! Don't know why, but I never listen to the radio at home, so I never hear Rush.

I wouldn't say Powell has "finally given up". I defended Powell when he was trying diplomatic efforts. The job of Sec of State is to be the diplomatic guy till the very last minute. He and Rummy have very different jobs, and it is unfair to measure him by the 'toughness' of Rummy's talk. I am glad FR is no longer bad-mouthing him. I was upset with that.

Agreed. I wasn't watching, so I'll defer to your comments. But the way the thread was reading was that Powell was down to "the very last minute."

Of course I believe everything I read on FR. Why do you ask?

Well I have a Mac at work, so that might be the problem right there. But until I get my comp straightened out at home, there'll be no watching it online there.

Oh!! My e-mail seems to retrieve and send fine though. Can someone with a fast connection send that trailer to me via my e-mail? FReepmail me if you would and I will give you my home e-mail address. I can watch it that way I bet.

Do we have what it takes to fight this war in such a way as to defeat people who are willing to blow themselves up in order to see us defeated?

If it didn't work for the kamikazes, it sure the hell won't work for this bunch of islamic orcs. It just gives us a "target-rich environment". The Japanese saw utter defeat looming, and assumed their entire population would be killed. After all, that's the way they'd do things. Since no other weapon worked, they hoped suicide weapons might turn the tide. It only slowed us down a bit, despite the losses they dealt us. They realized defeat and occupation was inevitable, but the only debate was how to get the entire population to die in one huge bonzai charge. Our nuclear weapons justly and mercifully ended that insane thinking, saving a million GIs and tens of millions of Japanese.

The islamanazis, however, have none of that kind of courage, or honor. Their military tends to get slaughtered regularly if they try to stand up to real soldiers. They will detour out of their way to avoid the cop with a 9mm and a box of donuts, in order to murder the unarmed and unprepared. And the killers are kids who have been schooled in hate their entire lives, and worked up with visions of a sexually-perverted afterlife, while the guys with the bad shave and beer bellies issue blood-curdling press releases.

We'll manage quite well. It's a damn shame, but there is a mass of stupidity and hatred out there that has decided it won't learn any other way.

It's big! - 19MB! If you have a slow connection, it wouldn't work any better that way.... MBs is MBs.

If you could download it on the Mac and just save it to disk even though you can't play it, that would work.

Most Cubans I have met, for sure, are conservative. I was ready to put a Cuban flag on my truck during the Elian thing. Maybe I still will. Meanwhile, I take pride in being a "Bannana Republican."

I think I got that from Luis Gonzalez, so I hope it's OK for me to say that.

Luis is a very good friend of mine. We go way back to the Elian days together! :) I invited him to our mini-moot but he couldn't make it that day, sadly.

As a fellow Elianista, I have authority to say that you and any Hobbit Hole Dweller are free to use that term ("Banana Republican").

Luis is a LOTR fan. He should be here by now. Hmmm....

You can't negotiate with them because they believe they have a mandate from allah. You can either surrender or fight.
