Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hi, welcome to FR and the Hobbit Hole!
I think you'll find that the Hobbit Hole is about the most friendly place there is on FR... folks here are pretty relaxed!
Have fun!

Ummmm.....well. We're admiring g'nad's place in Missouri, he's trying to whip dieting hobbits into shape (hehehe). It looks like a combination mini-moot/drunk dwarf-moot is shaping up. 2JM's friend from C&F is here with us....did I forget anything?
To: HairOfTheDog
*caution* seductive Eowyn picturesThanks! Hubba hubba
To: rugerman
Welcome! If you don't mind, I took the liberty of adding you to our master Tolkien "ping list", of which I am the custodian. If you would rather not get these pings, just let me know.

he found a quarter sized spider in the tubOh my gosh, that would freak me out! Spiders are one of my big phobias. I found a Black Widow once when I was living in Tucson. I managed to kill it, but that was just about the most terrified I have ever been.

The Great Race is on tonite.Oh I love that movie. Which channel?
To: HairOfTheDog
Is this a funkle?
To: ecurbh
Yes, it was.... Poor ecurbh! - no one talking to you?
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, I got me. :)
To: HairOfTheDog
Wow, that Hobbit trailer is really a goosebumper!
To: HairOfTheDog
Cool! Neat to see him! It is funny how they follow you around when you are trying to take pictures isn't it! Aki will follow you around even if you don't have a camera. He's always trolling for a petting.
It's now safe for the neighbor kids to cut through his field, but they still don't. The complaint is "the dumb horse just follows us around trying to get us to pet him."
To: ecurbh
It's the music! And the part at the end where it says coming Dec 19 ..... 2006
HA!
To: SuziQ
But the drunker I sit here, the long I get!DOH! That should have been: The drunker I sit here the LONGER I get.
To: 300winmag
My Bay is a big dog like that too. I think it is in the Arabian genes! Bay has neighbor kids who come and feed him through the fence.
To: ecurbh; rugerman
Ecurb, I know him from Chiff and Fipple, our whistle forum. I don't even know if he's a LOTR fan! I just know that he's a conservative and feeling a bit isolated in California...so I got him to sign up and come here first, because this is a pretty safe place to get started and figure things out.

It's a great treaser...and just reinforces my opinion that if PJ doesn't do Hobbit, he's a fool.
It's a sure money maker. More people have read The Hobbit than LOTR, I betcha!

Gnad, me thinks you might be able to avail yourself of that where you're headin.
BTW you may want to check out "The Book of the Crossbow" by Ralph Payne-Gallwey. currently published by Dover, unabriged version is 1995, currently a paperback, 400 pages. Original printed in 1905. Includes a couple great chapters on Catapults and Trebuchets.

RG: welcome aboard. You'll find a few primer poppers amongst us. I'm a charcoal burner and stick & string afficiando, but occasionally dust off the Smith.
