Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

See you all later. I'm off to pick up my FIL in Orlando and then take the rest of the day off. I'll check back in tomorrow.

This particular version of a mini moot is starting to sound pretty superior. Indeed it is Sam. We'd be honored if you could make it.
So g'nad, just how many mooters would Mrs. g'nad be tolerable of? Or would we need an alternate location?

Can't stand to be around drunks! We're not as think as you drunk we are...
To: HairOfTheDog; Overtaxed; g'nad
HA! - What if you just went as a journalist? We refill. You decide.
To: Sam Cree
I need some of the peach stuff. I can't talk today. It sounds a lot better than soup.
To: Wneighbor; Sam Cree
I can't talk today. It sounds a lot better than soup. With enough of the peach stuff, you wouldn't care that you couldn't talk...

The first thing in class this morning my students laughed. I just typed to them on my computer and let the projector display my comments all over the wall. Then, after no one had any questions, I gave them a test. No more laughter.
BWAHAAHAAHAA except from ME!!!
To: Wneighbor
clarification: well it wasn't laughter exactly. more like hissing.
great. i hiss.
To: Wneighbor
The peach stuff could even accompany the soup. Hope you will feel better though.

Then, after no one had any questions, I gave them a test. No more laughter. BRAVO!
My wife handed back a test yesterday. She prefaced it by telling them "the test was a perfect Bell curve." They groaned.
She's actually had a parent call and argue that "my daughter's 'A' wasn't high enough." But she holds her ground. It does make me wonder about some homeschool parents who can't deal with the fact that their precious child screwed up on a test.
Last week she had more than one student miss a matching question about the author of the short story the test was about.
It was an open book test.

I'm waiting for my last student to leave so I can go home and take a nap before night class. I don't feel too bad, just can't talk. I'm not much on chicken especially for soup. I'm going to have some leftover hot (both ways) tortilla soup before my nap.

GROAN

more groan... I have those same students!!! ARGH!
What really aggravates me is when I have to sign the financial aid attendance forms for students who ONLY show up for class. No homework. No reading of the assignment. Just physical presense. And you know whose tax money is paying for those financial aid leeches?
To: Wneighbor
okay. i'm going home now for my soup and nap. if anybody wants to send me that peach shine........ it sure would go down nicely today.
To: Corin Stormhands; g'nad; Sam Cree
I don't know if I want to go to a drunk dwarf-moot. Is that situation suitable for a hobbit lass?

We gotta small place, one guest room and the kids could sleep in their sleeping bags...we could have three sleep over, four if two don't mind sharin' a bed... more if they don't mind sleepin' on the floor...
it ain't gonna be me...missus g is pretty cool with company... we love to have friends over...
To: Overtaxed; Corin Stormhands; Sam Cree
Is that situation suitable for a hobbit lass? well, you know you'd be safe... now keepin' clean, that's another matter entirely...
To: g'nad; Sam Cree; Overtaxed; rightwingreligiousfanatic
we love to have friends over... Yeah, but what about us?
Where's RWRF? Isn't he the official moot planner?
