We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Secretary Powell announced, according to the London Sun, there are problems with the Iraqi arms declaration. The Sun also reports there are significant (numbers are given in the article - go to Drudge for the link - but will not be repeated here) movements of US and British forces toward the Persian Gulf area.
The United States announced it will field a missile interceptor base by 2004. The base will likely be located in Alaska.
The Supreme Court has asked the Solicitor General for the Administrations position in a key abortion case. The case centers on whether a law designed to protect abortion clinics can be used to keep people from posting information on the Internet about the doctors who carry out the procedure.
Canadian intelligence has surmized that country is being used by Al Qa'eda as a staging ground.
And an ABC "News"/Washington Pravda poll found that one-third of all Republicans and three-fourths of the people belonging to the Criminal Party thought Lott should step down as Majority Leader. Lott's fate in that regard will be decided by Republicans on January 6, 2003.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Hubby is on the way back to Wilmington. After a couple of good days, his mother was much worse last night. His sister came very close to calling an ambulance.
Though as far as we know her situation isn't life-threatening, Mom's pain is excruciating and crippling right now. She cannot be left alone. S-i-l needs to get back home. Hubby really needs to be here ... he can't be away from the business for long .... too many other people rely on us and there is so much that he does that no one else knows right now. We just don't know what we're going to do.
S-i-l is trying to get up with the doctor to get an appointment for this afternoon for Mom ...... hoping he can speed up getting the results of the MRI she had yesterday afternoon. Don't know if she's going to be put in the hospital for surgery, moved to an assisted living center, or what. We are taking things moment by moment.
Please keep us in your prayers, especially Mom and my hubby and his sister. Although I have seen something like this coming, neither of them would see it so it's hitting both of them extremely hard to suddenly have their mother almost totally helpless and in such extreme pain. And both of them have obligations that are weighing heavily on their minds and hearts even as they try to meet their mother's needs. I have fears about the stress on hubby and his sister.

There were many chances to change horses, yet his colleagues continued to support him even enough to re-elect him a month ago.If he was THAT ineffective and unpopular, where was the staunch opposition to Lott in his own caucus?Maybe they realize it's a job that only he can do out of the bunch they have.
Just a thought ;-)

I'd like to throw out something for all to ponder ..... it's not original but I don't recall where I saw/heard it.
If what Lott said is so terrible that he deserves all this scandal and raking over the coals, then where is the condemnation of the man about whom he spoke? If Lott is all the things that people have said about him for making his remark, then isn't Strom that much worse for being who he is?
Think about that real hard. IMO it makes a strong case for the fact that this whole thing is more dirty politics by the 'rats/media in an attempt to take back over the Senate.
Now I have a million things to do ..... probably won't be back until tonight.

I was thinking the same thing, about Strom any way. I think once Strom is gone, (passed on I mean) this will again rear it's ugly head, and you can bet the Dems are counting on this to happen....His eulogies in the papers won't be that he was the longest living Senator in US History, but rather, he was the longest living Segregationalist who just happened to be senator and that is the legacy of the republicans.

Watching a little of H&C last night Pat Bucaanan made the unbelieveable statement that this whole media frenzy about Lott was President Bush's fault. He claims that it had died down until Bush weighed in on it. Pat's hate for Bush and Republicans is only matched with what you will find at the Democratic Underground.Sounds just like John LeBoutillier's latest Newsmax column. It's strange, he seems to be a good conservative otherwise, but he has such a deep hatred for Bush. Someone know why?

No, the job entails herding cats.Managing the egos and competing interests of 51 other primadonnas. They have to trust the word and intent of their leader. The leader has to sacrifice HIS ambitions to manage all those other factions, and if a guy wants to be a loose cannon, like McCain, he isn't going to be tied down to a leadership role.Put it this way...Lott is the office manager among bright, capable sales stars who have their own committee's so they can do their own thing. The SML has to be an honest broker among his colleagues, and not sell them out.Though they can sell HIM out.
So, knowing that, who else can do such a job that has a proven record of working well with others?Proven is the operative word.I think the Senate Republicans, unless shown otherwise, know exactly why they chose Lott and have been pleased with it until now, or so we are told.Until he is voted out, then they support him.

Batten down the hatches..this is just the beginning.

The media is picking away, as they have been fueling this, no one else. The idea that "perception is reality" is a dodge that gives the media a veto over people and policy. It makes poltical calculation and gamesmanship the most important component in modern governance.Horse races will always be more fun for the media as it gives them the only influence they have.

What is so sad is, Byrd and Hollings, not a word, not a whisper, its all that Republicans do is so wrong and democracts actions are accepted.
To: Mr. Mulliner
Oh I hate thinking about moving, it is going to be a witch.
To: habs4ever
I think maybe Senator Frist could do it. He has organizational skills, he worked well with everyone as head of the Senate election campaign, and he is leaving in two years so that would give time for others to position themselves.
You know, I understand how people could originally feel that the President should be more loyal to Senator Lott, but I have not seen that same loyalty from Senator Lott. He KNOWS the President is actively concerned with expanding the Republican influence in the minority community, and even if his original comment was inadvertent, he failed to make it plain that he was not speaking about segregation, and then last night made it sound like all Republicans and all of the South are racist. I resent that highly.

Well, time will tell how far and for how long the dems can throw this race card around without it coming back to bite their nose off....yanow the spite your face thingy?

I think in the days to come we will be hearing from more than one Republican who resents being thrown into the racist pot by Lott doing a CYA maneuver.

This is the quote that is gall's me....
At times Lott's interview sounded like a confession. "There has been immoral leadership in my part of the country," he said. "I'm part of that."
This quote is in bold above the fold in this morning's Philly Inquirer
Here!
