AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Days 693 and 694)
Various News Sources and FReepers | December 14, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 12/14/2002 4:45:08 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Henry Kissinger, appointed recently to head the "9/11 Commission," resigned from that position, citing conflicts of interest.

Mary Matalin, VP Cheney's PR strategist, is leaving the White House to spend more time with her family. The Pravda still couldn't avoid a dig, saying the Vice President had "unusal influence inside the White House." Shouldn't a VP have a high level of influence? Come on!

And the CIA believes fully 1/3 of the pre-war leadership of Al Qa'eda has now been killed or captured.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Thanks for that link to the WH "life" site. That's cool!

It's always amazed me how few people know that the VP budget is paid out of the Senate budget. Duh. Hardly obvious, I guess.

I wrote about this in my Taft book. When Taft got $12,000 for the first WH automobiles, the Speaker and the Senate, on behalf of the VP, demanded parity. They voted their respective chief officers, the Speaker and the VP, $6,000 each for automobiles.

That was back in the days with their were co-equal branches.

That was awful good of you to buy a copy of the book. I hope your s-i-l likes it. My former s-i-l loves his copy! If the boy is young, tell him to look at the small photo on the bottom right of pg. 30. It was taken by my son when he was eight.

We were at his godfather's place in NYC. The kids waited for me in the apartment lobby while I brought the bags downstairs. When I arrived, my son came running into the building, carrying my camera and shouting, "Daddy, there's a limousine!"

I said, "Yes, son, we're in New York." "Yeah, but I got a picture of it!"

Not the best photo ever, but it was a keeper. It's the thing I'm most proud of in the entire book.

Ya think I didn't already think of that same thing???? He LOVES that dog!

No. No firm decisions yet, but from what I'm "hearing" from daughter....it's a no-go.

re. Lott the share cropper's son.

Exactly. I thought that press conference was masterful. Anyone know the reaction to it in Mississippi?

You know, exasperated as I am with Lott's stumbling, I am not willing to see him run out of the Senate by these jackals (aka RATS). Maybe they could just have him be the majority leader but send someone else to talk on TV. LOL!

It occurs to me that we have FOUR recent examples of black leaders being shoved aside in the democrat party:

1. Maynard Jackson elbowed out of the DNC Chairmanship by Terry McAuliffe.
2. The black Minnesota Supreme Court Justice (name escapes me) who was passed over (although he was interested) for Fritz Mondale.
3. Carl McCall, whose New York campaign money was diverted to McBride in Florida.
4. Harold Ford, who was stomped down contemptuously by Nancy Pelosi.

It seems to me someone could do something with that list.

By the way, my husband's parents were sharecroppers in Missouri. They didn't ever own the farm they worked; the first land they bought was when they moved into town when my father-in-law was 52.

I have the White House site bookmarked and check it fairly often. There is a ton of good info there. All of the President's speeches and the press conferences are posted ..... often with videos. You could spend a loooooong time following all the links.

They change the site from time to time, featuring different things, such as tours showing the WH Christmas decorations. One of the cutest things is the kids' section with Barney or Spot being the host. They have games and all kinds of fun things for the little ones that often delight the adults every bit as much.

If you go looking for it, just be sure that you type in whitehouse.gov ...... I understand that .com takes you to a porno site, though I've never stumbled on to it. That was appropriate for the last administration but definitely isn't for this one.

I spent most of the day in the garage, making a cake leveller/cutter. All of the commercial ones I have seen are weak. They are bent out of 1/4 inch soft steel rod. And when you try to use them? They bend, so the wire flexes.

My new, industrial strength leveller/cutter will NEVER flex. And would cost about $200 to have custom made. Fortunately, I can swap out the chef's toque for a machinist's ballcap and make my own. grin!

Gives me an edge over the competition.

Those views of the VP's house in the "Lynn Cheney" interview are great! And very rare. You can't see it from the road.

Be nice to have a Pendergast in your dining, room, wouldn't it? And full access to the Smithsonian basement. One of the privileges of high office in DC is loans of artwork from there.

I'm glad she mentioned the Grant statue at the base of the Capitol. A true monument, both in subject and execution.

Good Morning Kay!

That could be my window; except for the snow, and the church, and the rolling landscape!

At least we are getting the cardinals.

It's 5:00 A.M. and I am up.

Spent most of yesterday sleeping on the couch, fending off this cold. I feel better at the moment, and will get to early Mass.

Hard to believe that Christmas is a little over a week away.

We have no snow as of yet, and its not looking to promising for a white Christmas. But... who knows...

Thank you for the graphics. They always brighten our days.

You're a gem!

GOOD A.M. TO ALL FROM THE MS GULF COAST, USA!!!!

Wonder why it is when down here winds of 70MPH are considered hurricanes. On the west coast, winds of 91 MPH are called 'high winds'.

Rise and shine everyone, a good day to defeat the evils of this old world. A good day to wrap presents, to fix hubby or wife that special meal, a good day to hug your kids and yes, even your nother in law. A good day to rare back and smell the roses.
