The most important feast honoring Saint John occurs on the 24th of June. This is the nativity. This particular nativity has a very close resemblance to the Feast of Christmas. There are three masses in the service. The first occurs in the middle of the night and is a reflection of John's role as the precursor to Christ. The second occurs at daybreak and commemorates his baptismal activities, particularly the baptizing of Christ. The third service occurs at the hour of Terce and honors John's sanctity.
Interesting. I have never before heard of this comparison. Ya larn sumpin' new every day.:)
