We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
The Pope has accepted the resignation of Cardinal Law.
Jimmah has offerred to negotiate a peace between Israel and the Palestinians, but only if the two groups and the United States ask him to.
The United States has characterized the Iraqi report as incomplete - saying it does not detail things America knows has gone on in their nuclear program, for example.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
So why add fuel to the fire by offering another apology.
Dumb!
Of course, I am going to have to read the manual all afternoon, because it is computerized. The old oven had choices between Broil, Bake, and Pre-heat, and a DIAL that you turned for temperature setting.
This one has a digital clock and you have to "program" your baking settings! Yikes!
Installation went smoothly, and as a bonus the installer used to raise coon hounds. He loves Cassie, and told me she was probably a cross between a Treeing Walker and an English Red Tick coon hound. He also couldn't believe she gets along with the inside cats. HA!
Maybe this is a plan to save his bacon and defuse the situation. Who knows?
I watch with interest, not knowing what to expect next.
In a way I hated to see that old oven go...the 70's style lettering, the lovely harvest gold color, the space age faux-wood handle....LOL!
As I understand, for 300 million innoculated, 6000-10000 will die, and 300,000 will be disfigured or debilitated - for something that may not come. Even if that's off by an order of magnitude, that's not something to be taken lightly.
As I culinary professional, I concur. Thats the exact setup I have. Stacked electric double ovens, and a gas range.
Lots of errands to run this morning. Prayers for all that need them.

Wish I could stick around for the fun but I've got to get busy .... deal with some emergencies (angry customer), get a bank deposit to the bank, go to the office, etc.
I hope the whole thread hasn't blown up by the time I get back.
We do need compromisers. It's capitulators we don't need.
I do not know who is putting these figures out, but it makes no sense to me, unless they are figuring in AIDS patients and such who should NOT get the vaccination, anyway!
But, one thing that seems obvious to me is this is an attempt by the left to advance their agenda, which is to get equal funding in the Senate. If they could use this as a maneuver to fully control the Chamber, all the better, but I think it has more to do with their proximate concern, and that is to achive parity funding with the Republicans.
Lott did put his foot in his mouth, to be sure, and he has not done the party any favors, but let's look at things closely.
First - while we would like to make inroads with the black vote, fact remains we have pretty much remained where we have been for several years now - pretty much near zero (I think I read somewhere we averaged something like 5% of the black vote in 2002), so it really isn't going to hurt us all that much politically in terms of votes lost.
Second - the Criminal Party had a tremendous problem with getting black voters to turn out on November 5. This provides a catylist for future turnout to be sure, but the next election cycle is two years away. Other than the dolts who will go in and pull "Democrat" (sometimes more than once - how else do we get 100+% turnout in inner city precincts?) in any event, I'm not really sure how much of a rallying cry this will remain in 2004.
Third - the Criminal Party has their own ilk in this regard, and they will not want to press this too much, or the stories about Robert Bryd and the KKK might just begin to percolate. And there are probably others. They will not want it to go there.
So the Criminal Party's needs - and everything they do is driven by politics - are far more immediate. While it might be nice to remove Lott from the Senate altogether (the governor of Mississippi being that he belongs to the Criminal Party may be assumed that he would appoint one of them), I really believe the other party has performed the same calculus as exists above - and that it doesn't really hurt the GOP, per se, in the long term.
So, what do they want? They want Lott to cave on the issue of Committee and caucus funding. Isn't it more than a little convenient the media lackys and the Criminal Party are blowing a third-rate story into a cause celebre? In my mind it sure is. The Criminal Party is demanding parity funding - not the 2/3 majority 1/3 minorty split that is customary. Parity funding for the minority party has not been done in recent memory.
The Criminal Party argues the 107th Congress establishes precident for parity funding as they granted it to the Republicans (constitutionality of their majority notwithstanding). But that was indeed a special case as there was an even split when the 107th Congress took over (this changed with the Jeffords defection, but the Criminal Party chose not to reallocate money).
Now, suppose for a moment that Lott quit and a demoflop was appointed. They would have gained the equivalency that existed in the 107th Congress, and the Republicans would lose the basis of their argument for the 2/3 to 1/3 funding split.
This becomes more than a little interesting based on comments from the Criminal Party as it regards this funding issue, which have been published in Roll Call. The fundamental basis for the Criminal Party arguing that funding should be 50-50 is the "nearness" of the size of the representation ascribing loyalty to each party in the Chamber.
The "nearness." Hmmm. And here comes Lott who makes a comment that did not directly ascribe any racism or the like, but required substantial input from the left to put it in a historical context - don't forget that, his remarks would have meant nothing had that "assistance" not been provided. Now what triggers these leftist mouthpieces to go off and research the topic? That, I firmly believe was planted as it provided leverage opportunity for the Criminal Party in the Senate funding negotiations.
Now, the question to us is are we going to allow them to get away with it? There exists this school of thought that we should be pure and stand for our values. Ok, fine. Off we charge into defeat, for we will have won the battle, but we will lose the war - again. This is exactly what the left is expecting we will do.
There will be plenty of time in the future to deal with Lott - say the 2004 election cycle - that will prove less disasterous to the Party. OTOH, our other option is to cave to the left and present ourselves - and yes, make no mistake, we will present this to ourselves - another opportunity for:
ANOTHER DASCHLEAN CAPTIVITY.
Do we really want that? I don't.
Not sure where you get your numbers - they are off by at least an order of magnitute.
I see 600 dead, about 3-6,000 debilitated, according to the actuarial figures that keep getting cited (2 deaths per million, 10-20 injuries per million) in the public media.
But, it doesn't matter. The President closed the issue on the debate by allowing each person to decide for him or herself whether to accept the risk by getting innoculated. If you don't want the shot, you don't have to get it.
I intend to get it.
