Stars Shot Down Over Iraq

This is an article from a Toronto paper bemoaning the fact that everyone wasn't fawning over the kumbayah crowd yesterday.

Thanks dear! I'm ok - just trying to catch up before I post. I stayed home yesterday due to the ice on the streets in my development. Today when I left for work,( I had to come in due to an interview) I stepped onto a sheet of ice on the sidewalk, walking to my car! Ice! Ice! Ice! I'm already sick of it. Wish we had some S***!

A good morning to you! Hope all is still ok in NC. How 'bout them Panters?

Well, that cheered me up! Mike Farrell and Ed Asner are two of the biggest losers I can think of!

Interesting rumor heard on the radio a bit ago:

Scuttlebutt is that Evan Bayh is thinking of coming back to run for governor. If he did so, this would take a serious candidate to defeat him. The fact of this rumor surfacing indicates that things are not well in Ratland, because Bayh has been trying to get to DC for 20 years.

Now, if he ran in 2004, that would leave the senatorial position open. This means we would have to get two, really good Republican candidates, because I have no doubt O'Bannon would appoint Kernan to the senate position, and this would leave him as an incumbent and give him a leg up on winning...plus Bayh could get the governorship.

Boy, things are really Machiavellian in Hoosier politics recently!

gc - - have you had the doctor check your legs to make sure you have good circulation? Don't want you to have blood clots that could cause thrombosis (sp?) -- make sure you tell your doctor what is happening - - have him check that in conjunction with the heart meds you take --

Hope the pain is just from walking and you're using muscles you don't use regularly - - esp. when walking on sand - - but GET YOURSELF CHECKED OUT - -

Here's hoping your aches and pains are just tied to getting older..... :-) I'm getting there - - usually have a sore shoulder in the morning and I'm noticing a little arthritis in the left hand....... I hope when the Lord passes out our new bodies, He'll make mine about 50 lbs. lighter..... :-)

Thanks for checking in ...... daughter-child had ice at her house but made it to work yesterday, going in 2 hours late. The best I can tell from the Weather Channel and such, the temp will be well above freezing today .... that should help quite a bit.

We missed the Panthers game ...... it was blacked out here because it wasn't a sell-out. I was shocked when I saw the score!

ALL ~~~ got to head to Charlotte for a while today to do some things in the office. Back much later today.

Yes, temps will be up for several days. This morning was very treacherous, but I believe the commute home will be all right.

I'm back. The roads were quite icy under all the slush. Glad you made it to work all right.

Back out around noon. I'm sure the roads will be close bare by that time.

Dog, you working today? I thought Thursdays were your days off.

Here we go again... the (com)Post lead editorial: Mr. Lott's Party. No need to go there except for this gem:
In our view, it is a big deal, as is Republican failure to see it that way. For decades some Republicans have tried to play this game: make clear to white voters through coded language and other signals that they oppose civil rights, while saying enough of the proper words on the national stage to avoid being labeled as racists.
Here's my contribution to their wastebasket:

The Post’s lead editorial today recites its Tuesday demand to know if the Republican Party shall follow Senator Trent Lott into the New Segregationist Party. As with the Tuesday piece that hinted, winked, and stuttered about dirty Republican tricks to suppress black votes, and other sly tactics to re-elect James Buchanan, today's homage to the Party of Lincoln suggests -- but does not go so far as to say -- that Republicans are racists. The Post points to "coded" language used by the Party as a siren to "white voters" who "oppose civil rights."

Once again, the interested reader demands to know. Would that the post unravel and reveal these secret codes? Is it that Republican welfare reform when unencrypted reads like a Strom Thurman platform of 1948? Is school vouchers legislation a Trojan Horse, that once past the Capitol doors will reverse the 1964 Civil Rights Act? Would that the Washington Post please explain! I voted for the Republican Ehrlich for Governor of Maryland. Will his Inter-County Connector project pave over the Bill of Rights?

Clearly, the Washington Post has decided that "States Rights" is segregation is racism is un-American. Too bad, though, that the Washington Post won't say it right out. Please try. "Trent Lott is a racist." "Republicans are racists." "States Rights is the Confederacy." Can you do it? You'll feel better, and we'll all know, finally, exactly what you've been trying -- and would seem afraid -- to plainly say.

And if you can't say it outright, then retract it. Tuesday's and today's editorials intimate that Lott and the Republican party are racists. Be honest with us, Washington Post. Are they, or aren’t they? All these hints and innuendo are not befitting a principal voice in American journalism. You owe the accused clarity, and the public candor.

This matter would be cleared more quickly, with less anger, and to a far greater benefit to all parties if we can understand exactly what is being said -- by everyone, including and especially the Washington Post.

Kisses,
Nicollo

Yes! Good letter!

Drop the kisses. Remember, these are left-wingers. Never know who might read it and "misinterpret," since they do seem to leave a lot of their work open to interpretation.

BREAKING...

The Criminal Party intends to continue obstruction in Senate...

Emboldened by Sen. Mary Landrieu's (D-La.) win last week, Democrats are prepared to prevent the Senate from organizing in January unless Republicans agree to near-equal committee funding in the 108th Congress.

Democrats would not be able to stop Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) from being recognized as Majority Leader on the Senate floor, but they are planning to prevent committees from reconstituting if the GOP does not meet their demands. Such a move would prevent the GOP from hitting the ground running in the new Congress and stall President Bush from scoring some quick legislative victories before his Jan. 28, 2003 State of the Union address.

Senate May Face Stalemate

Now in light of this, how many think the tempest of Lott's remarks wasn't calculated?
