Made it work just fine...iffy in spots but if you have GOOD tires and don't drive like you are from Joisey, it's a piece of cake.

Good Morning all. I'm Backkkk! We had a heck of an ice strom here in our part of Virginia yesterday. I was without power until 10 PM last night. Blurrr! We were cold and bored, LOL, but we made it through OK. It's still icy outside, but the weather folks say the ice will melt today. We lost a good number of trees, and the roads are awful, but this too shall pass. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Haven't had a TV or the inter net so I'm out of the loop when it comes to the news. I plan on lurking today to catch up with whats happeneing.

I forgot to report some important local political news from Indiana. The lieutenant governor, Joe Kernan, has announced he will not run for governor.

Indiana has had a democrat governor for 14 years. We had two terms of Bayh (now Senator Bayh) followed by Frank O'Bannon, an old-time southern Indiana democrat, who was reelected in 2000 due to the INCOMPETENCE of the Republican cndidate, David McIntosh, whose campaign I volunteered with. Some day I am going to write about everything I saw in that campaign.

Anyway, Kernan was considered to be a lock on the nomination and possibly the election. He was the mayor of South Bend (Notre Dame) and was a Viet Nam POW. He is also a pleasant and likeable guy.

The democrats are stunned. Talk on the radio yesterday was WHY he has decided not to run, leaving the Rats in the lurch. Theories of the radio news guys:

1. He didn't want to raise money. (He already had raised 4 million dollars. This was discounted fairliy quickly.)
2. His wife wanted to pursue her career. (She had to resign from a bank position when he became lieutenant governor.0
3. He didn't want to defend the O'Bannon record. (My choice, as the state is in financial trouble and there have been several scandals in state government.)

I also think he is thinking that this state, traditionally Republican, is heading back to its roots. I think he realizes that the Republicans are spending a lot of time looking for an attractive and scandal-free candidate, and coupled with a popular president, he would have a much harder time winning. I also think some of the fraud machines in the larger cities are being scrutinized by the FBI.

This is excellent news for Republicians, because it now means that the democrats will have a gubernatorial primary and it will cost them money and time...especially because Indiana's primary isn't until May of the election year.

I thought that people would like to know some rumblings from state politics, as it bodes well for us in 2004.

Glad you are thawing out. We've had rain every day for days now. I am so sick of it. Very dismal here in Virginia Beach.
