Thank you for the infomation about Mail washer. You are saying it will not help with the one which is locking up the computer now. Is there anything that will? Besides a shotgun...

Don't launch outlook. find where it is storing your mail and see if you can delete the offending message without invoking the client. I used to be able to do that with outlook but have not used it in a few years. If your not technical in the slightest though I would recommend against it, but if your adventurous and have nothing to lose it always fun to poke around and learn :)

I run and swear by Mailwasher mentioned above and Ad-aware. Dowload Ad-aware 5.83 PLUS the ref sig file 042-24.9.2002 and run it. "Ad-aware is a free multi spyware removal utility that scans your memory, registry and hard drives for known spyware and scumware components and lets you remove them safely. It is updated frequently."

I just had trouble with Xupiter and didn't have Ad-aware's ref sig. As soon as I downloaded that, Ad-aware found 17 instances of Xupiter AND CLEANED IT UP! Even with an updated anti-virus, a firewall, Mailwasher, Cookie Pal and Ad-aware, I still got Xupiter and have no idea how.

If the email hasn't actually downloaded and still resides on your ISP's mail server, you should be able to call their tech support people and have it deleted thereby allowing your Outlook to get back to business.

I've done this on two occasions when Outlook pukes and can't digest a particular piece of mail.

Also, if it hasn't actually downloaded and still resides on your ISP's mail server, then Mailwasher will be able to help.

When this happens to me I close Outlook with control alt delete. Then I go to my ISP's home page and check my email there. ISP's usually have a link on their page to access your email while away fron home.

The offending email is usually (a huge file sent to me) right at the top of waiting emails. I delete it and close my email there. Be sure to sign out at your ISP. Outlook works fine afterwards.
