Put a piece of paper and pencil on your counter. Start making a list. Keep it handy where you can add to it easily without rumaging around to find it.

Your list will include:

1) All the different organizations you have participated in in the last 10 years. This includes church, choir, service organizations, social organizations, women from the gym, people you sat on the bleachers with when your kids were playing ball, people who's kids went to dance class with your kid,,,, you get the idea. Leave no stone unturned in this area.

2) Names of WOMEN who you can ask to help you (at this point, party isn't important,,, whether we like it or not, Gender Matters)

3) Try to come up with 5 Women's names from each organization.

Are your kids living locally? Start helping in the Concession stand at your Grandkid's T-ball games when their parent's turn comes up. (You'll get to know the younger crowd this way, and it demonstrates you're willing to do the dirty work)

Go to local meetings. Ask Questions,,, but don't give opinions,, just establish yourself as someone who is willing to dig down deep for the answers.

When you see the people on the list, stop to chat a minute, when they say, "What are you up to these days?",, tell them you're giving some thought to running. Tell them how difficut it is for a woman to run for office, and how difficult it is to get people to jump on board to assist a woman to run for office. When they say, "Well, I'll help you",,, you write it down on an index card and put it in the new recipe box I forgot to tell you to get for this purpose.

Get the list started tonite. There is no time to waste.
