Dell SUCKS as far as tech support. I was on the phone with them for 3 hours the other day. I was transferred 30 times. Each time the person would transfer me, and before I could say anything they would say
"I'm sorry this is a government line"
Finally Dell sent someone out to my house, and they fixed it.

Well, this isn't a question of anything being broken. I just need to know what steps to take to enable the messages to arrive in the right format.
We got the system in September. The speakers were perfect for about 6 weeks and then the bass went totally nuts. I called and they arranged to ship replacement speakers which arrived a week later. We set them up and I noticed that the box was marked "refurbished". This really pissed me off. I called and they told me that if the speakers had problems within the first month, we would have gotten new ones. So we have to trust them that these refurbished speakers will perform well or they will replace them again. To boot, when I tried to locate the tech person I spoke with originally, I found out she was located in INDIA and did I want to be transferred to her?
This is all so incredible.

Oh, I forgot...the tech person who tried to help me tonight was Akbar_Ali@dell.com. Wonder where he was located.

I could easily tell you how to send mail out.
If you want to change something about outgoing mail.
Incoming would be a bit more difficult.

I had visions of that cute little Dell geek, Steven answering my calls for help, not Akbar from the Casbah.

I recently found out that Outlook and Outlook Express are different; one of my bosses told me that Outlook is way better than Outlook Express. You might try switching.

Don't know what version of OE you're using, but are you sure the email you're receiving is in HTML format?

Try sending an email to yourself and see.

Start a new message. If you have buttons to set bold, color, etc., then you're sending in HTML. Bold and color some text, add a picture, and send it to yourself.

Let me know what happens.

Do not use Outlook or Outlook Express. There are tons of free e-mail clients available on the web. I use Eudora

Right now, I'm at the office. I haven't got the slightest idea which version of Outlook Express we have. When I get home tonight, I'll find out and let you know. I know how to format outgoing messages. It's the incoming ones I'm trying to figure out.
Thanks for your help.

Others have told me to look for free e-mail services on the Internet. Are they easier to use?

I followed your instructions for Tools/Options/ but there is no "read all messages..." to uncheck. We must have different versions. Mine is Outlook Express 6. I will keep on trying.
Thanks.

I'm using OE6. If I click Tools, then Options, then select the Read tab, under Reading Messages it's the fourth option, Read All Messages in Plain Text. Are you sure you were in OE and not mistakenly in Internet Explorer ?

I was in OE6, but I will look again tonight when I get home.
It's very annoying because I receive e-mails here at work in HTML format and when I forward them to my home PC, they show up in text only.
