In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

aver\uh-VUR\, transitive verb:
[Inflected forms: averred; averring]:

1. To affirm with confidence; to declare in a positive manner, as in confidence of asserting the truth.
2. (Law) To assert, claim, or declare as a fact.

Etymology: Aver is from Old French-Medieval French averer, from Medieval Latin adverare, to confirm as authentic, from Latin ad-, ad- + Medieval Latin verare, from Latin verus, true. Other words deriving from verus are very, which sometimes has the sense of "true"; verify, to prove the truth of; and verdict, a decision or judgment, literally a "true-saying" (verus + dictum, saying).

So this guy walks into a dockside bar, and sees this pirate with a wooden leg, hook on one hand, and an eye patch. After a few beers, they get to talking.

The guy asks the pirate, "So, how did you end up with a wooden leg?"

The pirate replies, "Arrrr, well, ya see, I was taking a swim off the coast of Tazmania, and up comes this shark and chomps off me leg."

The guy then asks, "And how did you end up with the hook?"

The pirate answers, "Arrrr, well, ya see, we were raiding a ship, and as we were crossing swords with the lads, one of them got a lucky swipe and took off me hand with his knife"

The guy then asks, "So how did you get that eye patch?"

The pirate muses, "Arrr, well, ya see, I was standing watch on the main deck, and when I looked up, a seagull pooped into me eye"

The guy says, "I don't understand, how did that cause you to lose your eye?"

And the pirate replies, "Arrrr, well, ya see, it was me first day with the hook"

..can't wait to feed you, honey bunch.....

Hope you are stocking up on some prevention for Norwalk Virus

Hobby!

Why are you buggin' xsex about her Norwalk virii? (Besides, it all comes out okay in the end.....)
I'm sure xsex is perfectly capable of brewin' up a batch all by herself fully capable of wiping the whole fleet out of Norfolk, VA. She may not want you buttin' into her kitchen with all them sailors all over anyway....

It ain't xsex who's the victim of Norwalker, it's Rika.

Boy! Think of them baby teeth - and a mastiff (mommy stiff?) breed as well.

How did she sterilize herself before feeding her kid?

do a "hurry up and wait" concept.

Speaking of "hurry up and wait", I wonder if there will ever be a new class for today.

Menu?

I could recommend: Peanut butter. Milk and cereal. Beenie-weenies. Crackers. Soup might be safe. (Campbell's - check the can for dents and split ends first...) Hotdogs. Macaroni and cheese.

Pizza is probably okay - Who does the delivery in your neighborhood?
