Word For The Day, Tuesday 11/05/02

Posted on 11/05/2002 7:38:28 AM PST by Bella_Bru
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
nugatory \NOO-guh-tor-ee\, adjective
1. Trifling; insignificant; inconsequential.
2. Of no force; inoperative; ineffectual.
Etymology: Nugatory comes from Latin nugatorius , from nugari , to trifle, from nugae , jests, trifles. It has nothing to do with nougat, the substance found in some candy bars.

The Polish (Polack?) thread seems to be a really fun thread. I can't pronounce any of the food items over there.

They'll never take me alive =;-)...
I read where the Floriduh voters are already ginning up some "the machines don't work" stuff.
I just assume that any state where Democrats are voting is rife with voter fraud.
Gotta go vote for real now (4 and counting).

Loney told me about that the other night. I can't find him in there. Where is he? Pretty please . . .

Properly applied to the skull noogies are anything but nugatory.

"I can't bear feeling stuck all day....Who's Stuck?
Why is she bare and why are you feeling her all day?
Never mind ... I guess we know why you're feeling her all day .... Butt where?

Fastest I've ever polka'ed was (on an tight, but almost empty smooth concrete barroom floor) back at College Station ...
T'was only four of us couples crazy enough to do it, but we completed the entire William Tell Overture (in time!) with the every beat being a complete 360 turn in a true 3-move polka step. (At 5'-10" without heels only Veronica was tall enough/fast enough to keep up of course! Vienese waltzes, the foxtot, or Latin dances are more classy ---- but seldom as pure, simple fun.)
Then they started the Beer Barrel Pokla right after, then Rocky Top, then the Schottishe before we took a break.
Ah, youth.

Yes, and the Hildebeast looks so very natural, too.
[Sorry I'm late..... hard day at the publik skule!]
[P.S. I voted early (last week) -- straight Repub. ticket!]
To: Robert A. Cook, PE; Argh
Only you, Cook, only you! (And maybe Argh!)
It's slow again around here. Bandwidth must be going bonkers by now.
Your polkas (polki?) sound wonderful. Danced all night, huh?

I voted straight Republican, too, Grimmy. I had to hold my nose while I voted for one, though.
In our precinct they had a children's voting area. It was really cute. Kids were using mock-machines.

Holding one's nose while voting is an integral part of the process. 8-)
But, it's not so bad when one considers the alternatives.

the thought of a polka'ing robt is enough to give one pause, is it not, slippy??? Your V. is a tall one, robt. Sheesh, 5'10" w/o heels?
