A jury made up of several members of the entertainment industry, including former Sony Entertainment Pictures Chairman Peter Guber, was sworn in Friday to judge actress Winona Ryder on shoplifting charges.

Does it strike anyone else as ODD that ANYONE in the industry, especially a former Chairman would end up on a jury?

Agreed, SuziQ, you'd think movie types wouldn't be on the jury, especially high-ranking ones who might know the defendant personally or have had a professional relationship with her! But hey, it's California.

E - I have to admit to ignoring most lawyer-commentators on TV, but it goes without saying that the ones I least want to see or hear are Geragos and Van Susteren! Yecchh.

Yes, it strikes me as "odd" -- or benevolent, really, that members of the movie industry will sit on the jury. Can you say, "Rigged?"
