Good job with the remodeling - I'm in a stall mode for having our 30 year old laminate tiles replaced throughout the house, hallway, and my office from whence I freep. Not sure how much longer Mrs.Lodwick will put up with my progressively weaker and weaker excuses.
My remodeling hero is a guy I used to labor for, back in the day: he and dw picked out everything they wanted, including new furniture, hired a decorator/contractor, and left for Europe for six weeks. Voila.
Good luck with your project(s). ;-)

Dear God, will this madness ever end?
I've been absent all day,, without access to any breaking news. Mid afternoon I dialed into the Radio,,, Rush was on and my MIL was yacking, so I cranked it back down.
Only now settling in to read the headlines.
Teacup, wishing you an uneventful travel schedule, and sending up prayers for your family at this difficult time.
HHL: I will help with CASH.
JL: Resisting the urge to make observations about those who cannot face a remodel, so book an extended trip for the duriation.

he and dw picked out everything they wanted, including new furniture, hired a decorator/contractor, and left for Europe for six weeks. Voila. LOL!! What a way to do a remodeling. You'd have to trust your contractor VERY WELL to do something like that!
Our project will be quite different. Sir SuziQ would NEVER trust anyone to do what he would like done in the way he wants! We're raising the roof of the garage and building a Master Bedroom suite. We'll have a contractor remove the roof and take down the old chimney because we're moving the fireplace farther down the wall in the den, and we're going to use a fire place insert which will actually send heated air INTO the room as opposed to drawing it out and up the chimney! Then the builder will put up the new walls, windows, roof, new roofing on the main house and the addition, and siding for the addition. I will already have primed and painted the siding so it will match the house when it goes up. We'll also have the builder install the special subfloor which contained grooves for the Pex tubing for doing under the floor radiant heat.
After that it's mostly all US! We'll build the interior partition walls, do the cutouts for the plumbing fixtures ( with a plumber coming in to do the rough work), wire the place for lights, sound, cable and internet, and put in all the insulation. When we've finished those things, we'll have somebody come in and do the wallboard. Dh can do it, he just doesn't WANT to! A professional crew could come in and have it done in 2 or 3 days depending on how much floating out and sanding has to be done.
I'll be doing all the painting of walls, ceiling and trim, then we'll install hardwood floors. Dh will install all cabinets and a built-in fireplace.
I'll have someone come in to do the ceramic tile work in the bathroom. That will be an extensive (and probably expensive ) job because we'll have a 'roll-in' shower, meaning it won't have a curb, the floor will slope gradually to the center drain, and we'll have a tiled deck for the whirlpool tub. Sir Suzi Q has intricate plans for the heating in the bathroom; he's even going to put radiant heating in the walls of the shower! It will be quite toasty!! Then we'll have a plumber come in and do the hookups of all the fixtures.
As I said, we hope to begin this in the Spring. I sure hope we'll be done with everything by CHRISTMAS of next year!!

I had a rather exciting day. Due to internet directions, I ended up in a housing project surrounded by police who were looking for something in the adjoining park. Clearly this was not the pharmaceutical company I was supposed to be at. I backtracked and tried again and ended up at the same spot, stopped one of the policemen, who said immediately to me, "Lady, you need to get out of here NOW." He directed me to where I needed to be which was nowhere near where I was.
Word to the wise - NEVER trust internet derived directions. I personally hate them.
And, after having my sec work all day to get me in another hotel, I am still in "No News" hell and will be for the rest of the week because everything in this area is either booked or off the charts, dollar-wise. Plus, my second appt - for which I had to valet park my car, wasn't "in" today. My sec couldn't quite understand that as she made the appt last Fri.
So, I have spent most of today driving around the worst parts of Durham, chasing people who were elsewhere and am now stuck in sitcom hell. And it's only Tuesday. I hate traveling.

I am so sorry that you are without cable news, but the entire day has been about the sniper. We all need a rest from that news.
I think that Frasier is going to ' Jump the Shark' in November. They keep showing previews that Niles is going to have a shocking revelation. I bet he is going to announce that he is gay. He is gay in real life and maybe it will carry over on the show. Personally I think it jumped the shark when he married Daphne.

Poor Kid! I spent most of the day sitting in Doctor's waiting rooms,, fortunately I had paperwork with me to work on while I waiting on my elderly in laws to complete their appointments.
Now I sit here with O'Reilly grating on my ears. Someday I will get the opportunity to slap the snot out of him, and I will gladly do it. He is just TOOOOOOOO full of himself.
Gratefully, there wasn't much activity here at the Guild today, so it didn't take an hour to catch up on the posts.

I'm watching Bonnie Hunt - she's pretty good and the chemistry she has with her "on air" husband is great. She reminds me of Lucy from the "I Love Lucy" days. It's better than Frasier - and I was a big Frasier fan until Niles caught Daphne. It Jumped the Shark for me last year.

Wow - this is not just new wallpaper here and there.
Question, why a roll in shower upstairs? Is there an elevator? We have several rental units that we've made accessible for our disabled tenants, so I know about roll-in showers.
Observation, you guys are much younger than I. ;-)
Go get'em. It sounds wonderful.

I, like Mr.SQ, tragically, are perfectionists - and I guess I'd rather live with the status quo than 1) do it myself, or 2) have some half-a$$ job done on the house which I would hate for ever and a day each time I looked at it.
E - all in all you're better off trying to find Threadgills.
Once you leave the interstate system, those mapit thingies are the biggest losers, no pun intended, that have ever been invented. Hang in there, it's only Tuesday.

I was going to recommend Life with Bonnie for tonight's viewing. I am glad you saw it. I always tape that show.
To: Hillary's Lovely Legs; Endeavor
I read somewhere (prob the tabs) that Nils is going to reveal that he has to have open heart surgery and I mean on the show-not real life....For sure, they deserve to jump the shark if that is true...Open heart surgery is not funny....
To: lodwick
Question, why a roll in shower upstairs? We think the curb on the shower is a trip hazard! Anything to keep us from falling! And if we ever needed it, we could put an elevator up to the second floor and the shower will be ready to go! But we plan to be long gone from here in a single story house before we really NEED a roll in shower.

I was going to recommend Life with Bonnie for tonight's viewingI've only seen part of one episode, but I LOVE Bonnie Hunt! She does remind me a little of Lucy Ricardo, but not so slapstick.
She directed the movie "Return to Me" and if you haven't seen it YOU MUST! It is, without a doubt, one of the funniest, sweetest movies I've ever seen! The Director's Commentary on the DVD is great fun, too!

Observation, you guys are much younger than I. ;-) Well, we both just turned 49, so we're just at the crest of that big old hill! LOL! We are both trying to lose weight and get in shape because that's going to be some hard work for us! But we love doing that sort of stuff. It is relaxing for Sir SuziQ to think about how to snake all that Pex tubing for the heating or how to wire the room the best way. He just loves that stuff! When he was growing up, his Daddy was a building contractor, so he learned lots of stuff from the workers on jobs during the summer. He's definitely a jack of all trades!

Great news about the Care Package for the Connie...That was so much fun last year, reading what everyone sent and the UPS/Postal Service fiascos. I have been saving up my Clinique samples and have some Estee Lauder this year, too...lol....
