I am so glad your daughter's experience in France seems to be going so well. She will come home much more confident and able to assess her accomplishments more favorably in relation to others.

I found that my daughter's experience this spring made her more confident and inspired her in her work.

Yes! Confidence. That's what she needs, and I think that she is gaining some.

Another thing this has done is to encourage her to pay more attention to world events. As soon as she found out that she was going she started reading everything she could get her hands on re: current events, and she's still doing that while in France; albeit fromr a "French" point of view. She always wants to know what is going on here politically; she doesn't get a lot of U.S. news over there. I suppose she could go to FoxNews.com or something.....................I think I will suggest that.

She REALLY misses football. Big time. We send her the scores every week, and Dad sent her a Packers schedule, but she really misses watching the games. At least she'll be home for the play-offs.:) :) :)

Whew! What a day!

In addition to working on payroll (which we didn't get finished because of interruptions), we've also been involved in a couple of other ventures ...... which some of you will find quite amusing.

In anticipation of our move and needing computers for the office, hubby decided that it would be a good thing to get a laptop ..... he can use it in his office and we can carry it when we go on trips such as the one coming up next week.

..... So, after some complications, this week we finally got the laptop ..... and have been trying to get it set up ..... including getting some special programs on it that will be most useful to have while we are gone.

..... Considering what computer dummies we are, that has been quite a task! We have run into all kinds of problems and have been getting horrible support from tech help people.

But we think we finally have it all ready to go. Only we found out that working with a laptop is quite a bit different than working with a desktop ...... plus we have Win XP, which is different from Win98. So we're trying to get comfortable with the new version of Windows, with the laptop itself (which has a touch pad instead of a mouse ..... I'm going nuts reaching for a non-existent mouse!!!!), and dealing with these problems we've encountered.

On top of all that, 3 weeks ago our tv set died and we bought a new one. We splurged and got HDTV ..... but not one of those huge ones ..... a 27" screen. Then the cable company came to hook us up to digital tv and set up the HD box. Many problems have ensued and the cable company has had to come back out about 6 times trying to get things straight.

But we now have 2 new remotes, each with more buttons than you'd find in many airplane cockpits ....... and the cable company didn't bring a manual for the HD box remote. The guy just said we could experiment. HA!

..... There are literally thousands of possible combinations of button settings. And in our experimentation, we really messed up .... and have had the thing set up so we could only get a 22" picture ...... on our 27" screen. Finally today someone came out to check things out and get it set up right.

I'm not sure that hubby and I are really ready for the 21st century ....... *sigh*
