At times I miss her a lot, but this experience is doing her so much good.........

Exactly!This is the key as they become independent: appreciating their growth and new-found maturity, even as it seems to shrink our time and influence with them.

It's better to focus on the first, rather than the latter.

It may sound like a paradox, but that gives us a chance to grow too!
