In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
hegemony \he-jem-o-knee\, noun:
hegemonies; plural
hegemonic; adjective
hegemonism; noun
hegemonist; adjective
USAGE NOTE
Hegemony may be stressed on either the first or second syllable, though the pronunciation with stress on the second syllable may be winning out. Seventy-two percent of the Usage Panel prefers it.
1. The predominant influence, as of a state, region, or group, over another or others.
2. Leadership; preponderant influence or authority; -- usually applied to the relation of a government or state to its neighbors or confederates.
3. The domination of one state over its allies
This period in Greek history is called the Spartan hegemony, for although Sparta didn't rule the city -states of Greece as if it were an empire, Sparta did exercise considerable influence over the domestic and foreign decisions of these independent states: it exercised, then, hegemonic control over these states.
--The Spartan Hegemony; 404-371 BC,©1996, Richard Hooker
Etymology: Greek hEgemonia, from hEgemOn leader, from hEgeisthai to lead. Date: 1567

Ok gang, you are on your own, I am going back to work.

OMG, xs. He really is spirited, isn't he? And he has been neutered, too. Wonder what he would have been like if he hadn't been neutered. Frightening, probably.

No, no.
NOW there is a different problem for Israel (vs. the liberals, at least!) that ever existed before.
See, before Clinton, the liberals DID supoort Israel firmly, and the press followed the liberal doctrine....
BUT (and a BIG BUT it is!)
Lately, Clinton's favorite PLO appeaser was voted OUT of office in Israel as Prime Minister (even with lots of US campaign money going to him, and many other campaign workers such as Carvelle (sp?) and crew ....
So Clinton's Nobel Peace Prize attempt failed,
... and thus the DNC (and liberals) promptly abandoned Israel (becauue with a conservative in charge - now the liberals HATE anything "pro-government" that happens in Israel!)
... further, with a conservative in charge in Israel, they (the liberals) can apply their hatred of Bush (who they desperately want to fail in ANYTHING attempted - regardless of who else it hurts! - to the conveniently close-to-Bush conservative Minister in Israel...
Thus avoiding any blame for the new war in Jerusalem from the international socialistic commmunity they love.

"I'm pretty sure there was something odd with the NJSC decision...." There was. It's wrong.

"short. succinct. to the point. correct" Must be the vitamins, minerals, and natural glass shard in the morning java that done it.

LOL, there's only one thing wrong with that. I don't like milk!

A few bovine moments ...
Is warm milk drank "straight from the bovine"?
"Your place, or bovine?"
My daughter loves cows. Cupid's arrow must have flown straight from the bovine..
Do Napa Valley cows grow on the bovine?
To: Robert A. Cook, PE
Can you tie a bovine on a bight?
To err is human; to forgive is bovine.

A low, slow, mournful background music is needed (with a whoremonica (but I repeat myself) refrain ...
.. perhaps "Riders of the Purple Sage..."
.. A Boxcar Known as Desire?
.. The Flatbush Sage?
.. Ole Crusty Dies Again?
