And now there's the rumor that x42 will move to NJ and run for the Torch's seat in the Senate. If not the Bent One, then maybe Bruce Springsteen. Good grief. Could things get any more bizarre? (I know, don't ask).

Good night, JL.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt

The only ones saying such things are Dims (do you know what "Dims" are?).

See, we're onto the tactic where you just make up words to put into the Republicans' mouths. It's called "lies".

Little gnats like you really should be ignored however, I'm curious.

Where on this thread does it announce that there must be no criticism of the president or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong?

Mr. McDimwitt may say anything he likes about the president, including lie about him, here in America.

I'm positive Theodore Roosevelt would have defended my right to announce that McDimwitt is a traitor when he goes to enemy soil and lies and or criticizes the president. Because that puts our soldiers at greater risk. You know those brave souls that defend you so that you can hide behind your computer and post self serving crap.

Be a man/woman, come back here and answer my question.

Good Morning! The Harkin/Ganske Tape-gate saga continues:

Tape probe's fate decided this week
By JANE NORMAN and LYNN OKAMOTO
Register Staff Writer
10/01/2002

Polk County Attorney John Sarcone said Monday that his office will decide by the end of the week whether there is enough evidence to proceed with an investigation of what Republicans say was the taping of a private campaign meeting of Rep. Greg Ganske and his supporters.

"If there's a decision to proceed with something, hopefully that will be done by the end of the week," said Sarcone, a Democrat. "Similarly, if there's a decision that there's no basis for a violation, that decision will be made also."

Meanwhile, the federal part of any possible investigation was shifted to the Northern District of Illinois on Monday.

David Margolis, associate deputy attorney general for the Justice Department in Washington, D.C., said in a letter to the Ganske campaign and to the Republican Party of Iowa that Steve Colloton, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Iowa in Des Moines, has recused himself from the case. He said Colloton acted "out of an abundance of caution."

Margolis said Colloton has a "personal relationship" with both Charles Larson Jr., the head of the state party, and William Armistead, Ganske's campaign manager. In addition, Larson's father is the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Iowa in Cedar Rapids, which would pose a conflict for a transfer there.

The Northern District of Illinois is based in Chicago. The letter did not make any statements about any possible investigation and dealt just with the jurisdictional issue.

Republicans have asked state and federal officials to investigate whether a crime was committed when Brian Conley, a former congressional aide to Sen. Tom Harkin in the 1970s, tape recorded a Sept. 3 gathering at the Hotel Savery and passed the tape on to a junior aide in the Democrat's campaign.

Sarcone is a heavyweight in the Polk County Democrat Machine.

Springsteen? Baby he was born to run! (Sorry couldn't resist :)

HLL, I couldn't watch O'Reilly last night, so you'll have to fill me in about the child rapist. The world seems to be swirling the bowl, doesn't it? Right is wrong, wrong is right, it's discouraging.

On a lighter note Chelsea's hired herself an assistant. Gee, I hope he or she doesn't expect to be paid:

Christian Slater and Julia Louis-Dreyfus rubbed shoulders with top House Democrats including Minority Leader Dick Gephardt and California's Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the minority whip.

Here's the funny part... there were many more celeb's who put their name to this fundraiser but didn't show. Steve Harvey seemed uncomfortable to be there, pointing out only three black people in the audience.

I was surprized that Harvey was there, his comedy always seems to be in the conservative vein. If I'm mistaken and he is a dem, after what he witnessed at the grand gala he's probably switching parties soon.

Get a load of what Babs put on her site:

TRUTH ALERT: MEMO LEAK BURIES THE TRUTH

It seems that when the Republicans don't like what you say, they attack you on the lowest and least pertinent level. At least, that was the way a Republican source leaked a private memo which had been sent by Barbra Streisand to House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt. The manner in which this memo was leaked obliterated the imperative message of the note by drawing attention only to the fact that a few words had been misspelled.

The story behind the misspelled words is explained here only because those spellings were used as a ruse to avoid addressing the real substance of the memo. The questions raised in that note are far more pertinent to the decisions Americans will be making this November. The memo was sent from one of her offices. It had been DICTATED BY HER ON THE PHONE as she was rehearsing her performance at the recent gala to raise funds for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Unfortunately, it was taken down and interpolated by a new employee who sent out a first draft before it had been reviewed or checked for spelling. On top of that, as Barbra Streisand ruefully recalls, "It was faxed to a wrong number.. my luck, a Republican."

THE IRONIC FURTHER TRUTH..

Hidden in this example of diverted news priorities is the fact that Barbra Streisand is a former spelling bee champion, meticulous in her written communications!

This idiot really has no clue how the real world works.

Check out her website for more chuckles!

No pictures of Babs but here are two of the four pictures from yahoo that show the celeb's who did show.

HLL, I wonder if the necklace that Babs wore was set with real diamonds. You should clue her in to the suffering in Africa that she's supporting by buying these baubles.

Since Babs is fond of tweaking lyrics.... I'm a commie, he's a commie, she's commie, wouldn't you like to be a commie too? ~~ Tweaking the old Dr. Pepper song.

I used to think this blob had talent. Dittoes to not bothering to walk across the street...

FORMER movie star Alec "Bloviator" Baldwin may want to re-think his plan to launch a political career. Republicans in Minneapolis staged a noisy protest when Baldwin, a howling liberal, showed up Saturday at a Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor party fund-raiser for Sen. Paul Wellstone and gubernatorial candidate Roger Moe. Protesters stood in the pouring rain chanting "Deport Baldwin" and "Baldwin and PETA - udderly ridiculous," a reference to his efforts on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to outlaw milk. The idea isn't popular with the state's dairy farmers. Inside, Baldwin criticized "muscular, conservative" outfits like Fox News Channel and the Drudge Report for backing plans for war against Iraq, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Protesters, meanwhile, handed out fake airline tickets, a reference to Baldwin's vow to leave the U.S. if Dubya became president. Police were called but no arrests were made.

Was this a Freep? :-) Link

Oops, Babs let one slip through.

Barbra Streisand rehearses for her performance at the National Democratic Gala September 29, 2002 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. The gala is a benefit to try to help the Democratic Party regain a majority in the House of Representatives. (Kevin Mazur via Reuters - Handout)

Why would thinking adults who are dems think that this whiny display helps the masses snuggle up to the party?
