Yes! Thanks for the reminder!
Hey, I hope Elizabeth was thoughtful enough to drip some blood on a dated piece of paper when she was lying/maybe dying, in Ricci's jeep, too!
That post qualified in my book for weirdest, least-convincing post, at least in the latest batch.

Wouldn't tell her Daddy?
She DID tell her Daddy at 3:58 am.
Yes she did..but you have taken the "subject" out of why I said....."I want to state one more time, that a nine yr. old girl, who by all looks of the lifestyle that we have been shown, seeing a MAN in the middle of the night..take your sister..show a gun..makes a threat...she hears the voice threaten...watches her sister leave... Wouldn't tell her Daddy?
The conversation leading up to my post was about NO MENTION OF THE GUN by Ed to the reporter, and the questioning of Ed not mentioning the horrific blow upon hearing about a GUN. My statement was emphasising that that would be the first thing a 9 yr. old would have been afraid of..her sister taken, and a gun.
Therefore, I aked.." Wouldn't she tell her Daddy..(about the GUN)."
I of course, know she told the parents. The question is.."What did she tell the parents? "

I, on the other hand, believe that Ed told the police the kidnapper had a gun, the police, however, might not have believed MK at first. You believe HE TOLD the Police the kidnapper had a gun..BUT..you also believe that even though they heard the abductor had a gun and kidnapped the daughter they would not bring back up immediately?????
Once again you miss the "subject" of my post....Let's take it in context here....I said...
If Ed had told them it was an abduction at gunpoint, they would know what they were dealing with, would have come with back up, and swat teams. We are dealing with a huge house surrounded by trees. That was not the case. I don't think the police were initially told about any gun.
So sorry, but your response does not compute here. And if the PD is that inadequate, then SLC has a problem. I cannot understand your statement that the police may have not believed MK at first.
You are telling us that when the police get a call about an abduction having just taken place, that the police only come with one officer, because they may not believe the 9 yr old? Tell us why that makes sense.

I agree about Kevin Cantera and his fearless coverage of this case. Do you think Kevin knows a lot more than he's telling? Maybe from a police source, someone who read the Sex Diaries of the Smart Brothers?

I really have no idea who knows what but it is so seldom that real investigative reporting is done, that it is nice to see a little done here and there.....
but, as in all cases, there is always an undercurrent of info that is talked about but never brought up.....I would imagine that there are stories to be told in SLC right now...that is why I like having people from SLC post...especially KAT....

My, my. You seem a bit perturbed.
Yes, they can always tell when I'm coming, b/c in addition to dating all posts, they require a small DNA sample to be placed (directly over the date) each time a poster posts.

"You might want to make at least a lame attempt at answering the premise i.e. why was the officer in the car?"
Because he couldn't be trusted not to hike his leg in the house?

Blatant sexism, freedox! Girl dogs can be officers, too!

I appreciate the time you spent responding to several of my posts last night, but PLEASE try to keep my words in context. Going back and correcting your misinterpretations in order to formulate a proper response is just too time consuming, and does nothing to contribute to the discussion.

sandude, your post about the Smarts' appearance on America's Most Wanted got a bit lost in the shuffle yesterday. I have a few questions....
First, you said that the interview with Ed and Lois appeared to have been done prior to Ricci's death. Do you know if they actually did travel to NYC to tape a show on Sept.12, as was reported? Were you able to get a feel for just when this particular show might have been taped? Did you get a sense from listening to Lois that she might be giving up hope?
In yesterday's Salt Lake Tribune article, Ed said that Lois is now going with the scenario that Elizabeth is dead. This is quite a departure from her previous stance, and from that of most family members. I just wondered when and how Lois had come to experience this change of heart.

First of all there are two different John Walsh shows. His America's Most Wanted is on FOX and his new talk show is on during the morning hours on NBC. Ed and Lois did travel to New York for an interview on the new talk show. They were joined by Samantha Runioun's mother and her boyfriend and by the couple in Missouri who had their little girl murdered this summer (their name escapes me).
I saw the New York interview but I didn't tape it. I would characterize Lois as quite emotional in this one. She was on the verge of tears several times as were many members of the audience that were shown. I wouldn't dare to try to post what she or Ed said but perhaps NBC has a link to a transcript of the show.
The FOX presentation of America's Most Wanted was broadcast this last Saturday but the interview with them was older than the one in New York. It appeared as if they were in their home and they spoke of Ricci as if he were alive. Lois showed more hope in this interview but it was not as recent as the New York piece.
While the family is still expressing a belief that Elizabeth is still alive I think in reality it is more of a hope. If you read the instructions for deer hunters on Liz's web site it talks about her possibly having a different appearance but it also tells the hunters to check out any suspicious smells. This is from the family and indicates that they are prepared for somebody finding a body.

Your posts here, including your recent ones, have given me many good ideas.
Also, you definitely have a talent for finding relevant portions of articles. This is of particular help to me, and it has saved me many a search of articles, trying to find some point I was wondering about. Thanks!

ROFL!!!!!!!
To: freedox
I think Neenah already cleared up the mystery with the excellent picture she posted.
Meanwhile, I can't wait for Palladin to tell us about whether it was a newspaper, a gasoline receipt, or a ticket stub from "Silence of the Lambs", that Ed Smart dribbled DNA on when he was in the jeep over in Ricci's apartment house parking lot. This will be important evidence, b/c it will prove that......Ed was in the jeep in 2001!
I also hope Palladin will clear up the mystery of exactly what kind of DNA-containing substance Ed dribbled on that dated piece of paper. Considering the possibilities conjures up all sorts of troubling mental images...
