Sure it is.

"Things are starting to add up now."
I agree, Palladin. That jeep has been one of the main focusses of this investigation.....who had it when, where it was taken, etc. Ed's new revelations put him much closer to the jeep than we have been previously lead to believe.

I'll bet this latest interview in the SLC tribune was arranged by Ed Smart because the FBI interrogations about a week ago dredged up a lot more tidbits of info and Ed was eager -- as you said -- for a preemptory public admission of at least some of the info that LE gleaned from Lois and him.

""After two days, he went to the Capitol Hill apartment complex where Ricci lived at the time, and discovered the Jeep sitting in the parking lot with the engine idling."
I can only think of one reason why Ed would have included this tidbit in his story.....it is an attempt to deny that he had his own keys to the jeep. If anyone can come up with any other plausible explanation, I'd sure like to hear it......

Rather pricy for a handyman, if that's where he lived.

Just as there can be no other reason for him to release this info at all in an interview except to preempt all the info that's sure to become public very soon.

My upper post may be wrong. Doing a further check now. Can't seem to come up with CAPITOL HILL APTS. in Salt Lake City. Sorry.

Actually, given Ricci's working arrangements at the time, I would think that any apartment would have been "pricey." According to Ed, Ricci was working 40 hours a week for him......and 30 of those hours were being applied toward the jeep purchase. How was Ricci able to afford rent, utilities, groceries, etc.? Applying 3/4 of one's pay toward the purchase of a used vehicle is certainly a new one on me.

Ed's new revelations put him much closer to the jeep than we have been previously lead to believe. How can you reach this conclusion based on what this new article states? The article states that Ed took the Jeep back after two days and that he allowed Rick to take possession of it after Rick showed that he would follow through with his end of the deal. No date is mentioned but it had to have been while Rick was still working for the Smarts which was many months before the abduction. And for your information DNA cannot be dated. Blood can be dated only if it is in it's liquid form.

Great analysis of the Trib article. I wonder why Suann Adams feels compelled to lie for her neighbors, the Smarts? I always felt this lady was a little too chatty for her own good, and she came across as very insincere in the Banfield interview. Just someone else trying to grab the spotlight? These types attach themselves to highprofile unsolved cases like barnacles.

Do you know where Capitol Hill Apartments are located? My guess would be on Center Street just west of the Capitol building. It is an older neighborhood with some of the homes having been restored. There is an apartment building there that is maybe 25 or 30 years old and if my memory serves me the name is the same.

"DNA cannot be dated."
DOH! But the article it has been spilled on can be dated. Like a newspaper, gasoline receipt, etc.

I wonder why Suann Adams feels compelled to lie for her neighbors, the Smarts? Is it possible she is not lying? Perhaps when she arrived the people who were in the home when police arrived had already departed to search the area.

I'm amazed that Ed even know Ricci's address! I'm amazed that you'd think he wouldn't have it. Richard was working for him after all.
