You can bet that needing money for drugs would have led to him committing property crimes and that armed bank robbery, though.

His crimes were not netting him that much. I've felt that it was Angela's insurance settlement that gave them the taste of having real money in their hands. I think that maybe it's possible that this little taste of easy street caused Richard to rethink his criminal career and to make the step up to something that was potentially more profitable.

Angela passed a polygraph. Let's see Heidi subjected to one.

"Ricci's wife said her husband was at home during the time of the abduction."

"He was in bed with me all night and we woke up together," Angela Ricci told ABC's "Good Morning America," adding that the FBI told her she passed a polygraph test with "flying colors."

And from the same article:
"Ed Smart has said that Ricci left the handyman job at the Smart home on good terms."

Great post, Bella.

Tick Toc Tick Toc just watch the clock varina. You're getting very sleepy. I'm going to try to bring you out of your hypnotic trance that keeps you stuck in June. Tick Toc Tick Toc just concentrate on September. You can do it. Tick Toc.

Salt Lake City police Chief Rick Dinse said, however, that police were not ready to charge the handyman, Richard Ricci, with any involvement in the abduction of Elizabeth, and said the 48-year-old ex-convict is not the only person investigators are looking at in the case.
"There is no question there is a connectivity between Mr. Ricci, these charges and the Smart case, but that does not mean that he's the abductor in this case," Dinse said. "There are other people we are looking at."

They need to open their eyes.

the conditions of just simple probation require aa meetings with a sponsor, frequent drug tests, no excuses. ricci was a "28yr criminal" in the utah system. Come on, if ricci was the first guy on the list given to the police, Red Flag.

Burglary Allegations Called 'Premature'
Wednesday, July 10, 2002

BY MICHAEL VIGH and KEVIN CANTERA
THE SALT LAKE TRIBUNE

Discussion of burglary and theft charges against Richard Albert Ricci -- who has repeatedly been questioned in connection with the disappearance of Elizabeth Smart -- may be "premature," Salt Lake City Police Chief Rick Dinse said Tuesday.
On Monday, deputy Salt Lake County District Attorney Kent Morgan estimated a charge could be filed against Ricci as early as Thursday, but Dinse downplayed that possibility a day later.
"To my knowledge, there is no imminent filing of burglary charges against Mr. Ricci," Dinse told The Salt Lake Tribune.
Salt Lake County District Attorney David Yocom agreed Tuesday, saying, "I haven't been told one way or another. I don't know when any filing will take place."

Red Flag to whom? I'm going to reach here and guess that maybe you're thinking that the Smarts wanted LE to look at Richard as a diversion?

Angela didn't know Ricci very long, and she always sounded to me like she was still in the "in love" stage of that relationship.

Wonder why no one who knew Ricci well, over a long period of time, ever defended him to the media? His mom, his siblings? Where have they been, where is their staunch defense of their beloved son and brother? I mean, aside from anything said at the funeral -- that doesn't count. People usually don't say bad things about the deceased at funerals.

anybody could have found a less risky way to get liz. remember the initial facts were presented by the smart clan. either ricci is a genius, {if you believe this, stand up and say so} or something else is true.

now you're getting closer. mk described the hieght of the "kidnapper" very accurately. she was asked, "how much taller was he than liz?" mk said "he was about 2 inches taller". this was when liz was barefoot, and the "kidnapper" was wearing shoes and a hat. liz has no breasts, she doesn't slump, {look at any of her photos} and if you add 4 inches to liz with shoes on, add 4 inches to ricci with shoes on. no matter how you look at them, ricci is at least 6 inches{half of a foot} taller.

just based on the 'eyewitness' account alone, ricci is innocent. and based on that fact, a real lawyer given half a chance in utah court, could win a multi-million dollar libel suit against the smart clan.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe there is another article earlier in this thread where LE wouldn't release the results of Angela's polygraph. That doesn't sound like flying colors to me. Gee, maybe Angela lied - again.

You are obviously not paying attention. The better informed posters on these threads have long contended that Ricci had an accomplice that went inside the house.
