In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
assiduous \uh-SIJ-oo-us\, adjective:
1. 1. Constant in application or attention; devoted; attentive; unremitting.
2. Performed with constant diligence or attention; unremitting; persistent; as, assiduous labor.
"I can scarcely find time to write you even a Love Letter," Samuel Adams, an assiduous committeeman, wrote his wife in early 1776.
--Pauline Maier, American Scripture: Making the Declaration of Independence Etymology: Assiduous is from Latin assiduus, constantly sitting near, hence diligent, persistent, from assidere, to attend to, from ad-, to + sedere, to sit.

If Vegas is like the casino's I was in for a couple of conferences on the Mississippi and LA Gulf Coast - 80-95% of the gamblers are smokers.
And they won't gamble (won't come) if they aren't allowed smoking.

Thanks. I've got to be a little more assiduous in checking my facts.
Isn't there an old saying, when you're not assiduous, you make an "Ah, Syd!" out of you and us.

"Reminds me of that rude puppet from Wayland Flowers and Madame. "
You nailed it. I was trying to figure out where I had seen that "look" before. I think the puppet, Madame, was more manly than Gore, however.

They didn't have any tiny enough cameras.
But this, if it's true, shows that Russert for once assiduously went after a liberal. And he CREAMED Hillary!!

The press corps assiduous perseverence of the President's comments concerning Tommy (Puff) Daschle and AllGone's pathetic attempts at distraction ad nauseum, affected a violent illness upon myself.
The only apparent cure was to get the word out. I sent letters to all of the editors of all the papers in the metropolitan Detroit area (both far and wide).
Perhaps this will cause enough people to take notice the political philosophy of the Levin's and whatshername. I sincerly doubt it, but then that should work for me too, no?
Spence, come back and be a Senator for Michigan, please.
Is it just me, or are we all somewhat agitated with the election coming up? Now we get to see the campaign finance laws in effect. Hah. Good luck Dims.
