Ok, So what's the deal with "5", I have a general idea of what it is but i want specifics. You see it everywhere and in all forms, what the heck is "5"?, other than the number after 4, before 6. Did Freepers start this trend?

Otherwise their threads will be overwhelmed by our side....it has happened three times tonight...and it will continue. Is this what FR is coming to now? It's bad enough when we, me included at times, get upset and become uncivil in the heat of a discussion. This is deliberate provocation.

We, (party loyalist) do not mind debating these points, but tempers are frayed and will get worse as the election draws near. We have been attacked and debased for far too long. This is point #1. Well, THERE's your problem. PARTY loyalist. There are those of us who are loyal to the CONSTITUTION. If you were in the Army you swore an oath to protect and defend the CONSTITUTION, NOT the Republican Party. I know you took the same oath I did when I enlisted in '67. So why are you placing party over Constitution? Just because Dubya wears an (R) does NOT make him a conservative OR a good wartime leader and so far his actions make me wonder just what kind of advice he is listening to and what his agenda really is.

I carry a CATO institute copy of the Constitution with me always.
I keep 40-50 copies on my desk at all times to give away freely to anyone who needs one.
I donot think we differ in this regard.
I tried to expain this to Laz last night and I believe he came a bit my way and was willing to stipulate that the differences we have are small and petty because it involves personalities and less regard to substance.
The differences we have are based in baseless fears that cannot be substantiated.
As I said, he came a little bit in my direction and was willing to listen to what I had to say. We have listened to you but many refuse to listen to us. Your dislike for Bush and company always distorts the debate and makes it meaningless and trite.
I would prefer if everyone would tone the rhetoric to a low level during this election cycle as more republican seats are needed and that should be the priority. The administration is engaged in the defense of the country from foreign enemies and needs 100% support. I plan to give it to them.

Toning down rheotoric during the election season? That is the very time things need most to be discussed. What you say in intent is exactly what that odious McCainiac campaign finance reform bill will do -- no talking about the candidates allowed when they most need to be talked about. Do all your prized copies of the Constitution have the First Admendment blacked out with indelible marker?

How about Ron Paul. Formerly (L)ibertarian, now (l)ibertarian, RLC founder, the only CONSISTENT defender of the Constitution in Congress. Is that enough, disruptor-boy?

McCain's bill will be wacked by the "nine".
Yea of little faith!
To: dcwusmc
How about Ron Paul.He is doing what you should be doing. Work within the party and not completely against it by calling us Bush Bots and RINOs.
Balance is needed. Do it.
To: wirestripper
By one, By three and by the Nine, although not all nine. Still it is the immediate pre-election phase that should be the most loud and burly.

I don't and won't take gratuitous shots at pubbies, though God knows they offer enough ammunition. I WILL be looking at issues and I presume you are willing to hold their feet to the fire when/if they regain the senate and maintain the House, right? No pussyfooting around, you will be on them like white on rice, right? Otherwise another election cycle and I might long for REAL demoRATS instead of fake ones... fair enough? Get your party to start REDUCING gooberment... not just reducing the rate of growth... and THAT not by very much. If the pubbies retake the senate and keep the house and DON'T start acting Constitutionally, all bets are off. No ifs, ands or buts and no excuses from you, deal?

You folks view this as a exercise of the 1st amend.
We see it as assistance to the RATS. Can you not see this point the we are trying to make?
To: dcwusmc
DEAL MY FRiend! This is how I see it exactly!
To: wirestripper
I am NOT a Republican, nor will I become one. There is no political party that I can feel comfortable with. The LP was home for a while but I gave them up 20 years ago... the pubbies and the Rats are too close to each other to matter and I know of no other that I want to be part of. My vote will go to whomever is closest to being CONSTITUTIONALLY correct. Sadly, that leaves VERY few choices.

Iagree that the republicans have been suffering from a severe lack of testosterone lately. The farm bill was a great example. The leadership seems to be rollin over and Lott has admitted this publically.
My contention is that the majorities are not enough to do the job. There is way too much compromise! I would prefer nothing gets done than some of this crap.
I join you in holding their feet deep in the fire. We gotta give them the tools they need however.

How a fight is won determines what happens to the victor after the victory. During the Revolution Washington begged for just about everything he needed -- he had to -- yet he kept stout hearted even when anxiously solicting support that was hard to come by. After the victory, he was great man -- the greatest of men in his time.
Greasing his way before him would not have made him a great man after victory, and our nation would not be near to what we are today, but all in pieces.

You can bring the republican party back to it's roots and senses.
To: bvw
It is critical that we get the Senate back with a workable majority. It is essential for our survival as a republic and to stem the tide of socialism. The dems are now hiding behind the document they have tried for so long to re-write. They have co-opted your issues and pulled the wool over their constituants eyes.
The only way we will suvive is to stay with the republican party and get them to reverse the trends. It is the only hope we have as a country. Otherwise we will emulate Europe and be subject to the U.N.!

Well well.
1:56 EST and not too many Anti-War threads from the 5s so far today.
Good.
Next time dont attack people and you wont get pushed back. I think some folks got some stuff off their chests last night.
Make no mistake, if the "L" [oser] crowd starts back up with their nonsense then we will go back into "beat down" mode but I think things have settled down a bit. Reasonable discussions can take place now. It's good to move some furniture every now and again just to keep everyone's pulse going.
To: VaBthang4
So '5' is anti war? I guess I better take the time and read this thread. I didn't realize I put my little dancing hamsters on an anti-war thread. They're gonna be pi$$ed.
