Ok, So what's the deal with "5", I have a general idea of what it is but i want specifics. You see it everywhere and in all forms, what the heck is "5"?, other than the number after 4, before 6. Did Freepers start this trend?

Up to your old tricks again? I see that you're baiting and crying abuse again.

"You mean like 'cheese' and 'moose' and 'All your bases?'
"I cannot get over all this rightous indignation!"LOL...this must be what happens when a buncha libertarian types become righteously ...err...indignated. Fun though. Heck, this morning was the first time I ever even came ACROSS one of these "5" references....and the REACTIONARY REACTION...HILARIOUS!!
To: Luis Gonzalez

Therefore I am not at all surprised that many of these same people oppose what the administration is proposing to do. You are way off base in calling most of these people "democrats" or "commies" or "leftists". Rather, they are paleo-conservatives. It is unreasonable to expect such people to slough off their political and philosophical beliefs simply because the man in the White House happens to have an (R) after his name.Excellent assessment. The best one I have seen.
We, (party loyalist) do not mind debating these points, but tempers are frayed and will get worse as the election draws near. We have been attacked and debased for far too long. This is point #1.
Point #2 is that President Bush is OUR president and if he takes us to war with Iraq I don't want to see a bunch of dissenters throwing rocks at him on this forum. I guarantee you I will puke all over the place. I went through that in 69 and I'm not gonna take it anymore.
All these fears! All this hand wringing! All these claims that the G-men are going to spy on everyone! I have heard it all before!
If it takes a few fives to get the constitutionalists to listen to what they are saying and the cause and effect of dissent in time of war, I am willing to high five a few folks to get their attention.
The reaction has been amazing.

"A good government will eventually make a good people."
Far be it from me, a very limited poster and virtual unknown, to question this, but...
do you really think that governments make the character of a people? Shouldnt it be the other way around?
To: Sir Gawain
You ought to be proud. Egg on your buddies to post and get banned while you hide behind them. Cute. Getting people booted is your game, whether they are your opposition or friends. What valor.

Is it right for one nation to tell another sovereign nation to disarm their entire military capability? Imagine the consequences. Like uh......... Germany disarming after WW2? Hey, and here's another KARAZEY coincidence, they were defeated in a WAR too!!!!! WOW!!!! Score a star for our special student!!

How do you "prove" any law adequately stops the behavior it is directed against? By your standard of "uselessness" we should do away with every criminal law that doesn't eliminate the behavior it is directed against, e.g., murder, burglary, shoplifting, indecent exposure.
And I'll say it again, if my tax monies must be spent on behalf of dopers, I want it spent to punish them and make them uncomfortable--not to coddle them and tell them their are poor victims.
To: Luis Gonzalez
No! Ya really think that's his game? Naw..... :)

What is this, the Psychic Friends Network reunion show? LOL. Why don't you ask Admin Mod if I hit abuse. That should clear up any misconceptions. I'll expect your apology shortly.
To: rb22982
Oh! Ok...that clears it all up!!!
To: nunya bidness
LOL....Oh yeah. I forgot about that....I think I might've made another one.
Obssess? Dont be a jackass. I have never dated a scrawny white chic....or any white chic for that matter. Besides, I think we all know who was slippin...nobody can say I was one of them. But I did think he was a she. YUCK!
Where did you get the picture though....I dont know how to dig that stuff up.

What I now see clearly is the reason why the Libertarian Party has been such a miserable failure. I read the contributions here on FR and all I see is negativity. I'm not sure who is worse, The RATS or them?
I don't know why they think conservatives have anything in common with them. My goodness, all they do is complain, call people names and do all they can to make everyone believe they are taking the high road. It's like dealing with a liberal who complains about the environment and our dependence on fossil fuels while driving to their twin engine Yaght in their SUV to share Wine and Cheese with their fellow liberals

Up to your old tricks again? I see that you're baiting and crying abuse again. The post that was pulled was aimed at me. VA didn't care for me revealing his new secret identity.
To: Askel5
Many thanks for the link. Very interesting.
As for the running thread being overrun? Just think, it all started with an innocent question concerning the meaning of the number 5.
We must be getting close to an election or a war, or both?

To: nunya bidness
Sorry I didnt read all of your post...yes that was my creation.
To: Sir Gawain
No apology from me, thats for certain. It would do your self righteous ego good tho, wouldn't it, after being outted over and over on this thread alone. Isn't VDS or someone waiting in the wings for you, sweetie?
To: VaBthang4
Just because libertarians are consistent hardly makes them dilusionary. Now if you want to talk about the party, when it comes to military they are pretty off the target, but most of the rest is either on track or just a different opinion. The differences between a libertarian and a strict constitutionalist is extremely small. I like Alan Keyes for example and agree with probably 95% of what he says, which is probably a good 5% more than say Harry Browne. I also agree with just about every last bit of the Constitution Party platform and the Texas GOP platform.
Besides, your efforts are better spent on liberals, than libertarians, especially when concerning parties. Most libertarians are at home in the GOP and voted for Bush (like myself) in 2000 and will probably only pull a third party trigger in 2004 if Bush is winning my state by a landslinde--NC--which is a possiblity.
