Thank you, sandude. You have very aptly stated one of the reasons that I have never completely discounted the "runaway" theory. It seemed to me that many were too quick to believe the adamant claims that Elizabeth had absolutely no interest in boys

I agree. I'd rather have her pregnant, barefoot and living in Mexico than one of the awful alternatives.

Edmunds reviewing plea-bargain options

Bret Michael Edmunds, who originally was sought for questioning regarding the disappearance of Elizabeth Smart, has asked for more time to review a plea bargain regarding a series of other unrelated charges.

Third District Judge Judith Atherton on Monday set a scheduling conference for Oct. 7 so Edmunds can have more time to go over a plea bargain that involves such charges as allegedly failing to stop for police, assaulting a police officer, and driving without registration and with a suspended license.

Edmunds was the subject of an intense nationwide hunt by police after a milkman said he had seen a car resembling one owned by Edmunds in the Federal Heights area where Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped from her home June 5.

Police said repeatedly that Edmunds was not a suspect in the girl's abduction, but that they wanted to question him. They found him after he checked into a West Virginia hospital, apparently suffering from a drug overdose.
