I meant that as a general statement about the other cases he has investigated. Sorry, I did not mean to infer anything a perp or perps in the Elizabeth Smart case. I really do not have any inside info on her case, from him or anyone else. Like I said, he is close mouthed, and won't budge.

As for being insulted, I'm not insulted by the name of mormon and I mainly meant it for those that are mormon that can't quite arguing about it on this forum. You have always been open minded about everything sides. I don't think you could be insulting even if you don't agree with me or others you don't insult.

Yes, Varina, I am typing that with a straight face! Who knows who did this? From all I've seen (except perhaps Tom's weirdness) the family just looks like a typical suburban family, raising their kids and trying to do a good job. But who knows? I think it is more likely that Elizabeth was the victim of a real criminal, but we ought to consider every angle.

Thanks, Scaredkat. I, too, fail to see how endless general articles about LDS would continue to be pertinent to this case, unless we found out something definite to point in the direction of some church scandal, and I doubt there is anything like that going on.

Unfortunately, I can be insulting. However, to a poster like you, who seeks to get along with everyone and tries very hard to have consideration for people, I would never dream of being insulting. Everyone here, I think, is glad for your input on this forum.

At this point, with the national attention given to her search, I doubt that Eliz. is a runaway, and I never did really think so. But at first, I thought she that might have been "sneaking out" for a lark and something went terribly wrong.

It has crossed my mind that if it were a runaway or a sneak-out situation, the Smarts would get no or very little police help, nothing like what they have gotten, and so they would have had to coach MaryK to lie about an armed gunman, etc. In fact, just think about how many things which don't add up which would suddenly become understandable if it were the case that one lie necessarily led to another lie (as lies are wont to do).

No, I don't think that Eliz. is a runaway, but I hardly see how it can be said to have been definitively ruled out.

Okay, okay ... here's a joke I picked up from another site, to lighten the mood:

A Russian scientist and a Czechoslovakian scientist had spent their whole lives studying the majestic grizzly bear. Each year they petitioned their respective governments to allow them to go to Yellowstone to study these wondrous beasts.

Finally, their request was granted and they immediately flew to NY and then on West to Yellowstone. They reported to the local ranger station and were told that it was the grizzly mating season and it was much too dangerous to go out and study the animals.

They pleaded that this was their only chance. Finally the ranger relented. The Russian and the Czech were given cell
phones and told to report in each and every day.

For several days they called in, and then nothing was heard from the two scientists. The rangers mounted a search party and found the scientists' camp completely ravaged. No sign of the missing men.

They then followed the trail of a male and a female bear. They found the female and decided they must kill the animal to find out if she had eaten the scientists because they feared an international incident.

They killed the female and cut open the bear's stomach... only to find the remains of the Russian.

One ranger turned to the other and said, "You know what this means, don't you?"

"Of course," the other ranger nodded. "The Czech is in the male."

Starting a thread just to insult people is one reason this thread has deteriorated the way it has.

It's not funny on this thread and it's not funny in the thread in the smokey backroom. It's not like the smokey backroom is a private thread. Anyone on Free Republic can read the thread.

I suggest the insults be saved for private email between posters that feel the same way.

That will make this thread and others much more civil.

Well, golly gee, Your Majesty has finally seen fit to address little me, instead of posting to others what appeared to be responses to some of my posts, since it appears you just couldn't dirty your hands by posting to me!

I've noticed YOUR attitude, too. Read my little preamble to my post in the backroom. Every word of it is true. I have followed this case on freerepublic from Day One, including watching for months the exchanges that have occurred here. I wonder why you take so much umbrage, and continue to hold such resentment, when your name wasn't even included in that list. You must enjoy going around with a chip on your shoulder.

I don't care if you like me or not. I said I was not going to make any friends with that post. I don't think I did. But since then, the people I praised in that post have been every bit as gracious as I expected them to be, and you know what? Even some of the people I slammed have been gracious. Obviously you would like the bickering on this thread to stay in full swing; I guess it provides the best entertainment, to your way of thinking. But I thought the posters were here, first, b/c they were deeply interested in this mystery. The bickering and insults are just a side issue.

At least you finally decided to come out and "fight your own battle"--instead of watching others duke it out and apparently sitting by, oh-so-above-it-all.

And if you think you're making any big revelation by citing that post and thread, the fact is I put directions to it on the then-current Smart thread, right when I first posted it. Later, some others discovered it on their own and directed people to it again. It's old news.

Yeah, boy, those people in Utah just don't get it. That must be why we keep hearing about crimes in Utah. Maybe they should try to be more like "civilized" eastern states. Here's one: no death penalty--and they give a cannibal weekend furloughs.

What Ed Smart said about not locking his house because he thought he was safe (or something like that) He is lieing! He and anyone else that lives here knows this. I have never heard such a lead on. Where he lives, you know that they lock there doors. Why did he have an alarm put in if he felt so safe

Above you said that Ed Smart was lying. I was wondering if you have heard from your sources about any other lies that Ed may have told?
