Happy 35th Anniversary.
I didn't want to send you warm anniversary wishes on my tacky fake nipple post.

Do you remember when Chelsea was complaning that her breast were too small? Some of us thought she had bought herself a set. It looks like the same plastic surgeon who gave Hillary her face lift, gave her, her new boobs. They look crooked to me. LOL, I guess, you get what you paid for.

Fred is now anticipating barf alerts!
Change of subject: Are there any opera buffs out there? I know some of the more popular operas, but of course none of those is playing while we're in Paris next month.
L'Opera National de Paris is presenting "Boris Godounov" while we're there and it doesn't sound very appealing to me. It's based in Moscow and is about treachery surrounding the czar. No love story....I've always thought the love story is what makes opera so powerful. Does anyone know if this opera is worth $90 tickets?
Maybe we'll just go to Swan Lake (Le Lac des Cygnes) choreographed by Rudolf Noureev, and tickets are only $50.
(Mountaineer, there's a 3PM matinee performance that Sunday...hmmmm).

I don't even want to know what sweet nothings Ian is whispering in her ear. More likely......."Hey chubby. How about you and I go eat some more of that chocolate cake?"

I have seen the Swan Lake by Nurayev, and it's fabulous. The principle dance was Cynthia Gregory and it was mesmerizing.
I highly recommend it.

OMG!!! She looks right out of the communist party! Look at her bags!!!!!In all honesty, I can sympathize with Ole Crusty about the bags under her eyes. Women our age just cannot burn the candle at both ends without paying the price.

Women our age I know Granny, but if I had just earned 8 million dollars for writing a book. I think I would have done something about my bags. If I had the money??? I would.
Happy Anniversary !

I'd recommend the Swan Lake, too, but I think we'll pass, as Mr. M is not much of a fan and I'm only slightly moreso (plus, we usually can get as much ballet as we can tolerate free, as my sister plays in the orchestra for the Pittsburgh Ballet).

If I had the money??? I would. If I had the TIME, I would. I checked into it. The time it would take in hiding while the swelling and bruising subsided is just incredible. Who in the world has 3 to 4 wks to burn? Certainly not me. I've come to the conclusion that I should wear my bags and sags with honor. I have earned them the hard way.

And I should have added to the above post.
With a home based business, like we have, there would be no recuperating at home without half the neighborhood dropping by for this or that,,,, really just to check me out. So when you add to the cost of the surgery the price of holing up in a decent hotel for 3 to 4 wks,,, well,,, I'd rather spend the money on rose bushes and silk blouses.

A brother of one of the Cantor Fitzgerald employees killed in the WTC talks about it:
. He was a hard-working American in his prime enjoying the fruits of his labor, only to have his life cut tragically short by those who envy our way of life. He harbored no ill will toward Muslims or their beliefs; he had no political agenda. Yet he was murdered simply for going to work and doing his job. And that pisses me off. And it should piss off every American who aspires to create a better life for themselves.
Story here.

Hey, what's gotten into the water in Iowa? I found this on Joanne Jacobs'
"blog" (she frequently writes on education issues):
Jim Patch, a candidate vying for a seat on the Des Moines school board, said Thursday he is opposed to linking high school graduation requirements with students' reading abilities. "How can we take a bright kid that is having trouble reading and tell them, "You can't graduate?" " Patch asked. "If they are doing well in other subjects, are we going to tell them they can't get a high school diploma?"
How can a student do well in any subject if he can't read?
Patch, a retired Des Moines teacher who has been endorsed by the teachers union, ['nuff said] has said during candidates' forums and other venues that many people have dyslexia or other brain-based learning disabilities that inhibit their ability to learn to read. ...
Patch, at a forum this week, expanded his comments, saying students shouldn't be denied a high school diploma just because they are poor readers. If diplomas are withheld, "we could have a lot of future architects and doctors out there that aren't going to graduate," Patch said in an interview.
We certainly should have people who can't read performing heart surgery or designing skyscrapers full of people! Yikes! Des Moines Register.

Thorton Wilder once wrote, "the greatest tribute to the dead is not grief but gratitude."
What a moving article - thank you.
Lodwick is no help on the "fine arts" front - you guys are on your own there. ;-)

Anyone who wants the endorsement of the ISEA must bend over backwards to NOT shine the light of underachievement on Iowa's educators. ISEA has endorsed fewer than 5 Pubbies in the current legislative campaign, that's out of almost 150 candidates.

Just be glad that this isn't your face.

Oh good grief! Surely some nasty soul has doctored up that photo. That poor girl. Her mouth is huge. Bless her Heart.

Jury just gave David Westerfield the death penalty in the little Danielle Van Dam case.
Restores my faith in man(and woman)kind.

RE: Iraq
John Gibson just asked Senator Kyle: "Isn't it odd that President Bush has now brought France on board, but he can't get Senator Daschle to go along"?
LOL!
