They had a lot more on Atta than merely his wallet. He was positively ID'd in a number of ways. No matter what you say to a conspiracy nut will make no difference. Some nut just went over to Buzz Aldrin and told him he never went to the moon. Same kind of nut, different cheese.

Does anyone have good references to refute the notion that Mohammed Atta's wallet (w/ identification) was the only wallet/ID found from the entire World Trade Center remains? That's B.S. - on Wednesday, one of the networks had an interview with someone helping clear the site, and one of their comments was that at times they would find just the ID for someone and not their body...

Who cares? Why don't you leave this country and immigrate to Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Irak, Yemen and other places were there is no conspiracy against the USA. And send your family to Tchechenia for a few weeks. People like you stink.

IIRC there was one of the widows on one of the specials on either 9/10 or 9/11 this year saying all they had of HER husband was his wallet. Even showed a couple of pictures from it, covered with cement dust...

Like most such theories, it can be refuted with five minutes or less on Google. Here is a relevant article from firehouse.com:
FDNY Uses Satellite Technology in Search at WTC
Less than Half of Firefighters Found
SARA KUGLER
Associated Press Writer
NEW YORK (AP) -- The fire department is using satellite technology to record the precise locations of human remains and personal possessions of victims of the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
Each body part and object is catalogued by firefighters with handheld units that fix locations through satellite.
The data accumulated through the process will be stored on a map that, once completed, will provide useful insight into the catastrophic ramifications of the collapse of the twin towers, fire officials said.
The map of body parts and belongings, from identification cards to laptop computers, should help engineers understand how the towers collapsed, said Deputy Fire Commissioner Thomas Fitzpatrick...

I've assumed other wallets were found. Even if they weren't, his might have been found more easily. He was in the pilot's seat and the nose of the plane would have been destroyed differently that the sections of the plane further back were.

Unfortunately even some of the heroes of 911 have quietly been accused of rifling wallets for cash.

I thought it was a passport that had been found, and that it was eventually determined to belong to another Mohammed Atta. Not the Atta on the plane. "Same name" mistake, like the erroneous report that Mohammed Atta had been in an Israeli prison for blowing up a bus stop in Israel during the 70's (that was Mahmout Atta)
I have no source on this, it's just something I remember hearing on TV or reading here...

There are buckets and buckets of wallets and plastic cards of all descriptions. the history channel had a long program broadcast on 9/11/02 that showed thousands of artifacts being collected by museums (identifiable personal property is being held as evidence or returned to relatives). From what I saw, the number of id cards would fill at least a 55 gallon drum.

Atta's wallet was found, but it was carried by a Mossad agent. How's that for some afternoon tinfoil? :)

Police Ponder How To Return Personal Items Found In WTC Debris
Some WTC DNA Samples Incomplete - January 29, 2002
Credit cards and identification cards found in the tons of debris removed from the site of the World Trade Center attacks sit in colored bins in a trailer at the Fresh Kills landfill on Staten Island,on Jan. 14, 2002, in New York. (New York-AP) Amid the concrete and steel scooped from the World Trade Center ruins are links to the victims and survivors _ bracelets and lockets, watches and wallets, key rings and cell phones.
Police are now beginning the monumental task of returning thousands of personal items to grieving families, and to the fortunate people who escaped.
"If we can somehow help to alleviate someone's pain and give them back a fond memory, we'd love to," said Deputy Inspector Jack Trabitz, commanding officer of the Property Clerk Division. For four months, the department has been storing and cataloging the ash-covered belongings. It recently began returning items that clearly show a name, such as drivers licenses, credit cards, datebooks and jewelry with a traceable inscription.

What is the claim of this conspiracy theory? - That the planes didn't crash? - That he is living with Elvis? - what?
