This speculation about the jeep being used as collateral to borrow money for drugs has led me to even further speculation. I'm not going to post it here b/c I might get sued for libel, LOL!

Figure it out, folks! Give some real thought to Ricci's "business" arrangements.

The speculation has nothing to do with the Smart family.

Now that is speculation!!! Have you ever thought about fictional writing? I believe you might have the talent!

I forgot, why was the jeep in the shop in the first place?

still 1.19 million is big jump from the value of the home... but maybe I am wrong maybe it is common for a SLC house to be assessed way lower that what it would sell for. To me it is still a big jump.

I heard 2 different things... electronic fuel pump or the electronic ignition switch needed to be replaced. I believe it was towed in the first time.

When I lived in Utah 15 years ago they did not use market value for the assessed value. It could have changed but that was the case then.

That is the part that gets me, if it was the fuel pump or ignition and had been replaced, why did they bring it back? It would not have started had it not been repaired.

It is a big jump, I agree.

Sounds like where I live. Assessed value ridiculously higher than market value.

Actually they assess it lower and then have a complicated formula that increases the taxes.

he or someone took it out after Moul fixed that part of the repair. He also returned it for unfinished repairs (don't know what) maybe he took it in because it was due for inspection soon? So maybe Moul had to get it running first before he got it ready for inspection but the jeep was taken out before he was able to get the repairs that were needed for it to pass inspection. I know the Jeep had new tires on it or nearly new tires as I noticed this from seeing pictures on TV of it sitting in the Cop shop. Maybe the second service Moul was to do was to put new tires on it?

Think, lander, think! You're getting at it! You think my drug dealer scenario is farfetched? I really think it might fit, LOL!

When you say "I forgot, why was the jeep in the shop in the first place," it shows you are already getting there. Who puts his vehicle in a shop and just lets it sit there for 2-week periods, be it a "fuel pump repair" or even a so-called electronic ignition repair? Who brings the jeep back to the shop, EVEN WHEN IT IS CLEARLY RUNNING? Why does the jeep really stay in the shop so much?

I do believe they still have auto emissions standards to meet down there so that scenario could play out.

You know I am thinking. I'm thinking that I live such a sheltered life that there is no way I would have ever thought about that possibility. Or you must live in a different world too! :)

Brigette has an idea on why it was brought back, or it might have been brought back under the pretense of emissions inspection to try and establish an alibi for it, hoping Moul wouldn't remember or have records. And wouldn't there possibly be phone records of a call from the "female" who called and said someone was coming to get the jeep?

I think Ricci's wife is saying that they did not have the money to pay Moul for the repairs, maybe this why they did not inquire about it. I hate to say it but my local repair guy gets so much repair work that it will take him at least a week to get a car back to us. He works for cheap but we have to wait. Maybe Moul is busy also and cheap, maybe Ricci said... I don't need it for 2 weeks (when I get paid I'll be in to get it) Then comes the so called emergency that happened right after Moul got it running but before the other repair was started. It could be that the Emergency made Moul fix it faster if he bought into it. Maybe he was understanding to the person on phone and said ok I will get it running today for you and you can have it since this is an emergency. Maybe Moul trusted Ricci to some point. Maybe they promised to pay when they came in to pick it up for the emergency, but sneeked in and took it. I still say Moul did not see Ricci pick it up... Moul gave 2 different versions and last one "was that it just disappeared". I think that sometime after Ashleigh Banfield interviewed him and between the Primetime Live Show someone questioned him more (a reporter or someone) and he thought he would clear up what he said on the AB show on the PTL show. Maybe him giving the later version of "it just disappeared" in his mind was clearing the matter up publically... but no one has questioned him on why he gave two public interviews and 2 different versions that day from "seeing Ricci take it" (AB show) to "it just disappeared" (PTL Show).

I keep telling people this what I heard on these shows both on the sameday... There are no archives of the shows unless you pay for the tapes.

Angela Ricci on LKL on July 1, 2002:

KING: Now, the mechanic on the car claimed somebody identifying herself at you called to say her husband would be picking up the Jeep.

Was that you?

RICCI: No, it wasn't.

And just real quickly...

KING: What do you make of it?

RICCI: Well, any time that I've ever called -- either Richard or I have ever called the shop regarding mechanical work on that vehicle, we are not that formal with the mechanic to call and say, this is Mr. or Mrs. Ricci.

If I were to call that place, he would only know me, myself, as white Jeep, electronic fuel pump. You know, I've experienced this when I've called there before.

So, you know, it wasn't me, and I don't have a clue as to where that came from.

This is what her story evolved into by her next interview on September 4, 2002:

RICCI: I don't know. I don't even think the Jeep has anything to do with the disappearance, to be honest with you. I just think if it was Rick's Jeep that was gone, it was just weird timing. Now, I did call the mechanic at one time, and this is important to me. I called him one time to talk to him about the mechanical problem. The mechanic went into a different mechanical problem. I said, no, the electronic fuel pump. and he conveyed to me, oh, I have two, three white Jeeps here now.

KING: There were other white Jeeps.

RICCI: Yes. He said, I have two, three white Jeeps here now.

KING: White Jeeps are fairly common, right? in Utah especially.

POMEROY: They are, especially in Utah.

RICCI: And I told the police that as well.
