Elizabeth Smart thread, August 31-September 7, 2002
Posted on 08/31/2002 10:26:34 AM PDT by IamHD
My prayers go out to the Ricci family during this time. RR was sent up the river and used as a scape-goat. No evidence, whatsoever, linking him to the disappearance of Elizabeth.
May he rest in peace.

Thanks Palladin. I noticed too that Ricci has hair on his arms. I don't have Photoshop here, when I get home tomorrow, I can try enlarging that wedding picture.

Angela says that wasn't possible because his timecard shows he was at work. When he would get off work, he was home a half an hour afterwards. There was no time for him to be missing, ever. It will be interesting when they finally release Rick's timeline during the day's surrounding the crime. Here Angela is giving her husband an alibi for the daylight hours of the 8th of June. It doesn't clear him of dropping the Jeep off but somebody else would have to be responsible for the mileage unless the trip was made at night. I hope that we soon get a chance to see what evidence LE had on him. I suspect sometime after the funeral it will start coming out. It is still a matter of record that LE was unsatisfied with Rick's alibi.

I've been to the other website's boards: Court TV and about.com. FR and the posters here are positively erudite compared to most of the posters on those other boards. Another spot you might want to visit is lucianne.com whenever there is breaking news on the Smart case. The vast majority there think the Smarts have something to do with the abduction. The level of conversation is about the same as it is on these thread at FR.

I heard several weeks ago in a published article (sorry, I can't remember the source) that the Smarts do plan on suing the NE as soon as Elizabeth's abduction is solved. They don't want to take away the attention and their focus on finding her.

But varina, the point is, Ricci wasn't taking blood pressure medication at all before his parole was revoked.

I think Ricci's trailer is out in west SLC, it isn't that much farther to Magna from where he lived. And there are several Catholic churches in SLC. The oldest one is Cathedral of the Madeleine in downtown SLC, the building is absolutely breathtaking.

# 95 "Could it be that cops are zeroing in on a family member and all this sudden airtime is designed to deflect any suspicion on them?"
Zeroing in on Ricci certainly appears as if it was meant to deflect any suspicion on them. Whether or not the cops are "zeroing in" on the Smarts or an LDS member is debatable. This case is being "worked" like Jon Benet Ramsey - SLCPD, to date, appears to be as inadequate and unprofessional as the Boulder Police, as well as intimidated by wealth and power.
No other missing child case in Utah has been so publicized. From what we've read and heard, nearly all of Elizabeth's publicity has served no other purpose than to confuse the circumstances under which she became a missing person, and side-track media.

Does Angela have grounds to sue?

It costs a cool $300 to place an obituary in the Salt Lake Tribune. I'm not sure how much the Deseret News charges for an obituary, but there is a charge.

I believe her. Implicitly. Whoever is hiding the truth has a lot to answer for. I'm curious how you decide who you are going to believe or not. It just seems a little quick to give Angela such a ringing endorsement. I'm not saying I don't believe Angela, but I simply don't have enough data to come to a judgment. I think it is possible that she could be involved in this and if she is then she would need to say what ever was needed to garner public support for herself. Maybe even lie to the press. We simply don't have enough information about her or her late husband to tell anything for sure. Again, I trust what the SLPD/FBI is saying because we have not seen anything yet to impeach the investigation. That opinion is not shared by some people here and you can blast away if youd like. As always, Im ready. IMHO we just dont have enough data to make any firm judgments yet. And Im still a member of the RICCI IS THE GUY club until somebody better comes along.

Angela appeared before the Grand Jury twice, and passed a lie detector test. She did at least as well as any of the Smarts, as far as we know.

You need to think about canning some fruit next. Oh, and the key word in this statement is appears . And don't forget the FBI is on this case as well.

Angela appeared before the Grand Jury twice What she says in a Grand Jury and what she tells the press could be vastly different. Her testimony at the GJ is sealed.

And Im still a member of the RICCI IS THE GUY club until somebody better comes along.Problem is, sandude, nobody "better" will come along for you, because you don't really want to consider that it could be someone without a felony record, or perhaps not a kidnapping at all. As long as your mind is closed to exploring these possibilities, I'm quite sure you'll remain a member of the "Ricci is the guy club."

The FBI have been a laughing stock for many a year, sandude.

To: Utah Girl
They don't want to take away the attention and their focus on finding her. They may also want to wait until they believe they are no longer suspects.
To: varina davis
I thought that was pretty much the going rate for posting obituaries. When my maternal grandmother died last year, it cost $287 to post her obituary in the local newspaper in California. Even my local newspaper (gossip rag) charges for obituaries, and has done for many years.
